Republicans call on wrestling champ Ric Flair Comments 2 | Recommend 3 Wednesday, Jun 10 2009, 12:30 pm Staff Reports KINGS MOUNTAIN - Wayne King, chairman of the 10th Congressional District Republican Party, announced that 16-time World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Ric Flair will be on hand at Thursday morning's District GOP fundraiser in Kings Mountain featuring former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Flair was a strong supporter of Governor Huckabee's presidential campaign last year and made several appearances on his behalf in North and South Carolina.
Ric Flair, known as "The Nature Boy" is regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, having entertained fans since his pro debut in 1972. A resident of Charlotte, Flair is known for his signature interview style always ending with his trademark "Whoooo!" Throughout the 1980s and much of the 1990s, Flair, along with Tully Blanchard, and Arn & Ole Anderson thrilled fans as the "Four Horsemen." Just before retiring last year, Flair was inducted into World Wrestling Entertainment's Wrestling Hall of Fame. He remains active in the industry as a personality and promoter.
"We are thrilled to have a world-wide name in sports entertainment, Ric Flair, to introduce Governor Huckabee," commented King. "Like many in this region, I grew up watching Ric Flair and have always admired the fact that he always has time for his fans. His work on behalf of Republican candidates is well-known and we look forward to welcoming him on Thursday morning."
The breakfast, which is now sold-out, will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the H. Lawrence Patrick Senior Life & Conference Center located at 909 E. King St. in Kings Mountain. Nearly 400 attendees are expected.
A phony wrestler in support of Huckafraud. Poetic.
Huckabee and a wrestler, yuck!
Well, we could just say that they’re both entertainers.
Way to stay relevant GOP.
Rick Flair hasn’t been loved (or hated) since my early days of watching TBS wrasslin’.
Next they’ll have the candidate pull up in a 1982 Camaro.
No wait, that would be kind of cool.
Ric Flair not loved or hated? Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but it still draws the longest lines. WHOOOOOO!
That said, I wish he was supporting someone else.
I love Ric Flair. I absolutely despise Huckster - the only republican I truly hate.
Good Lord. These are the people who have disdain for Sarah Palin.

Similar thoughts. This is so pathetic.
To be the man....you gotta beat the man! Wooooooo!
I helped pull Flair out of a crashed airplane in the 70's in NC. Scratched and barely hurt, he was whining like a little kid. It took several minutes for him to sober up and realize he was alive.
In the 50's and early 60's, my career enlisted Navy Dad worked part-time at the Arena in San Diego, then Richmond. I got to met a lot of these guys and watch them practice. It is a ballet, on steroids.
I enjoy watching some of these cage fights they have today. ProWrestling ala Flair and friends is just entertainment for the masses! If you want to see someone torn apart, watch the cages! As an added bonus, the "Card Girls" are really nice on the eyes of a dirty old man!!!
Listen, I’m not Andy Kaufman. Or Richard Belzer. These are big, athletic boys who can put a hurting on you ten ways to Sunday. What they do in the ring is fake, but I don’t mistake that for what they’re capable of outside it.
wrestler...entaintainer....I don’t care for huckabee either
I like Flair. He used to give the best interviews on WCW.I understand he was a good collegiate wrestler, too. I see these guys where I work ,it is a ballet, and most are always polite and upbeat. Wish he was supporting someone else, though.
Yep... and thanks for the eye candy!

It is acting out a sports play. It is entertainment... at least they do not shave points or throw games for money.
