My grandson, who is a staunch Democratic and staunch Catholic, attended one semester at Hillsdale two years ago. When I asked him if he found the professors too conservative, he said “not at all”. They were way too anti-Catholic for his taste, and felt that he almost had to renounce his Catholic beliefs in his written papers to get a decent grade. That and coupled with the high tuition ($32,000-$36,000), he made the decision to leave.
My son graduated from Hillsdale and played football there. The best money I ever invested. Great school.
My son also graduated from Hillsdale. It’s college like some of us older guys remember: no grade inflation. You can’t teach there if you are a marxist or socialist. They never advertise that they are a Christian college, but it is more Christian than the top Christian schools, in my opinion. Education there is worth every penny. I sat in some classes while visiting there once and was on the edge of my seat.

Also, there are a lot of very Catholic academics, like Robby George at Princeton, who don't seem to have a problem with Hillsdale's classical liberal curriculum or orientation. And, of course, William F. Buckley was a "semi-devout" Catholic.
