Hearing that foreign corporations with offices in the US are hiring the best execs from the TARP companies.
And now with a so called pay czar that effort will be expanded.
A very British decision, too
> The absence of the Queen was astonishing.
I'm not too surprised. Her Majesty isn't of the habit of appearing at events to which she isn't invited. Why would she dignify the event with her presence? That would give it legitimacy which it didn't deserve. Her Majesty's place is in the hearts and minds of her fellow War Veterans and not with poseurs who neglected to include her in their social calendar.
> I am stunned that Prince Charles and the PM went in her absence.
I'm not. Prince Charles is the Heir Apparent to the throne and, despite his idiosyncrasies, twice the man than either Obama or Sarkosy can ever be. The Prime Minister is, of course, a legitimate leader of a great nation, unlike his American counterpart who is only a leader of a great nation.
In all Great Britain treated the event with more than the dignity it deserved.
She' 83 years old. Her ability to maintain the schedule that she does is what is astonishing.
I saw part of this story (again) last night on the History Channel.
Implying, of course, the the other ceremony wasn't "a really special ceremony". Well stated, sir.
Thank you for posting this..
Bump
How soon before he’s thrown under the double-decker?
181 Brits were the FIRST to touch down on D-Day and they hold a special place in all of history and in the defeat of a man who would have destroyed the world if given the opportunity.
Of course, I don't even know that either Sarko or Bambi are aware of these facts, but their wives dressed well that day and that is what is most important right?/S
They are twits in comparison to a woman who actually served during the war.
Two great stories in one isn't it? The General’s wise choice and the story of the Sixth Airborne.
That feat of gliding is even more amazing when you consider the conditions on that night and how so much went wrong with the airborne operations because of those conditions.
...cant see how the writer concludes that the many did this....
Should read:
...cant see how the writer concludes that the MAN did this....
The empty suit sores into the sky on a rocket, and crashes to earth when the rocket runs out of fuel.
Are we beginning to see it sputter?
The media is going to prop up this devil, no matter the harm to our economy and security.
"Hold until relieved."
This chart says different
Please add General Dannatt to the Real Men list.
His priorities are straight. What a pleasure to see someone who wants to honor others, instead of looking for popularity and recognition. Those vets deserve recognition and thanks. As one of them stated, it may their last visit, which is sad in itself.
I read a quite impressive and humble statement from one of the vets..
He said: I didnt want anyone to know. I didnt come home to be a hero. I had a job to do and I did it to the best of my ability. I used to come back here with the British Legion on visits and then about two years ago they told people about it. I never even told my kiddies what Id done. Im so pleased Im here now, though. Yes, its been wonderful.
That comment by the vet is very moving. Most of ours feel the same way.
(Honestly, I needed a tissue alert for that one.)
I salute you, sir!
