Bodies Found From Air France Plane Crash

Bodies from the Air France passenger plane that crashed in the Atlantic Ocean off Brazil have been found by search teams.

The news comes it was revealed the airliner sent out 24 automatic error messages in its final moments as its systems broke down one by one.

The head of the French agency probing the tragedy said signals from the jet before it disappeared showed its autopilot was not on.

Paul-Louis Arslanian said it was not clear if the autopilot had been switched off by the pilots or had stopped working because it received conflicting airspeed readings.

He said investigators were searching a zone of several hundred square miles in the Atlantic Ocean for the debris.

Plane manufacturer Airbus said an investigation found Air France Flight 447 had inconsistent readings from different instruments as it struggled in a massive thunderstorm.

The plane, with 228 people on board, disappeared early on Monday as it made its way from Rio de Janiero, heading to Paris.

The wreckage of the jet has not been found, despite days of intensive searching by air and sea.

Do you think the truth will ever be made public?

that Airbuses are death traps? Pretty much know. I haven't flown one since one lost its tail taking off from LaGuardia.

I deal in facts when assessing aircraft mishaps.

Conjecture is fun but when actually assessing the whys of something, facts are key, not what ifs. Maybe it was a meteor strike, or perhaps alien abduction, or maybe it was a Mission Impossible scenario of an escaping scientist trying to get away from the evil corporate armies. . .those MAY have happened. . .before an investigation revealed the facts of the why (cause). You go where the facts lead you. Anything beyond fact-based analysis is mere conjecture.

Have a nice day. Game over.

But hey, I like a good conspiracy like the next guy. They are fun to play with.

No. There was a bomb threat for a flight from Rio to Paris and a few days later that same flight goes down. So terrorism has to be near the top of the list of possible causes.

The vast majority of “home mechanics” are dealing with GASOLINE tanks — not jet fuel whose vapor is significantly less combustible than gasoline. U.S. commercial jets use a fuel that is essentially kerosene.

Then too - there are 10s of thousands of flights DAILY with far less than full fuel tanks - and how many “spontaneous explosions” have you heard about?

I don’t doubt the fuel ignited — my suspicion is that it was IGNITED from an EXTERNAL source and not internal to the system.

I remain convinced that TWA 800 was brought down, either intentionally or my some horrible accident initiated by some force OUTSIDE of the aircraft...

No doubt. I've been thinking of something like a massive sandstorm ~ would start out as a field of loosely knit cometary "boulders" hitting the atmosphere, and then turning into particles traveling several tens of thousands of miles an hour.

That'd undoubtedly take out a plane ~ even one without a center tank. Just shear the wings right off of it, and if it was a big enough storm, maybe the static electricity you'd have in a storm like that would shut down the electronic components one by one.

Yeah ... just like the “truth” about TWA 800.

Nelson DeMille has a good take on that. The "evidence" in the book was "lost" on 9/11.

I sure wish I could recall the name of the book...

You’ve got to be joking. I’ve seen similar o-ring failures on a smaller scale in gas distribution systems. Only difference is the ones I’ve seen caused a mess instead of exploding because there wasn’t an ignition source anywhere near it.

The o-rings weren’t a cover up.

 I am aware of the bomb threat, and I agree that terrorism/bomb is in the top 10 probable causes, but where is the conspiracy to cover that up??

Not if some reports are true and the plane was flying slowly due to sensor malfunctions. The forces involved could be no worse than a bad car wreck.

I'm expecting the slow-speed conjecture will gain weight in the coming days. One or both engine and/or the composite tail or flight-control surfaces might have sheared off as a consequence of abrupt side winds on a plane traveling too slowly. As AA587 showed--even if you believe the official explanation, which became even more questionable after the Air Transat flight from Cuba lost its rudder--the Airbus tail assembly is laterally weak, and in AA587's case both engines came off as the plane spiraled, too. I'm suspecting something similar happened, a big tragic cascade of structural failures exacerbated by the Airbus' reliance on flight systems automation.

An Air France spokesman says the airline received a bomb threat for a flight from Buenos Aires to Paris on May 27, but that warning proved to be false.

There is good reason to suspect that most did not suffer any torment - other than the fear brought on initially by the harsh turbulence, and breakup of the plane. But, unfortunately they didn't die instantaneously.

But, at the point that the plane broke up and cabin pressure was lost, all aboard the plane would have fairly quickly lost consciousness, and soon died (in few minutes) from lack of oxygen shortly thereafter, long before landing on the ocean surface.

The typical deployment of oxygen masks from above would have been completely ineffective for all aboard as the plane disintegrated and the system that provides the oxygen was disabled by much of the system being destroyed. In effect, they all 'went to sleep' very quickly - and now await the wakening of all dead. (Of course, none believers don't believe that will happen... and don't believe in anything 'spiritual.')

Yes, I'm certain that they did see what was happening as they were losing consciousness, and probably knew their life was over. But, many probably used that short period of time before consciousness was lost to pray, 'Into thy hands, Oh Lord...'
