Good news! Our application for use of the People's Plaza for a 4th of July celebratory tea party picnic--to be dubbed Independence Hall Tea Party III was approved!

The People's Plaza is located directly across the street from Independence Mall, between Market & Chestnut Streets and 5th & 6th Streets (next to the Liberty Bell Pavilion).

The grounds include a paved staging area surrounded by a grassy field suitable for family picnicking. We have use of the People's Plaza from 11 AM to 5 PM, and the event will be held from 12 NOON to 3:30.

Our tentative Tea Party schedule:

11 AM to 12 Noon -- Set up.

12 Noon -- TheTea Party commences with the welcoming of attendee and the ringing of the Centennial Bell from the tower of Independence Hall. A moment of silence (except for the bells) will give us the opportunity to remember the sacrifices of our founding fathers and mothers.

A brief introduction of those providing the afternoon's entertainment.

12 to 1:30 PM -- The entertainment and picnic kicks off.

1:30 to 2:30 PM -- The official program, including invited speakers, will be held. (Dom Giordano has already committed to attend.)

2:30 to 3:30 PM -- Entertainment and picnic continue, including a Tea Party sign contest, a contest for best overall founding father costume, best overall colonial costume, and best overall revolutionary soldier uniform costume. We also are planning face painting and other fun activities for children.

3:30 to 4:30 PM -- Take down and clean up.

Please go to our facebook (url is below) page and sign up for the event.

We had a very successful Philadelphia Tea Party II, which included a great line up of 8 speakers and estimates of attendance were placed at 1500 to 2,000. Not bad for an event that was held at the same time as Phillies Announcer Harry Kalas (bless his soul) Memorial.

This Tea Party is a regional event hosted by Tea Party Organizers from around the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area, including Chester, Lancaster, Lehigh, Philadelphia and NJ counties. We are attempting to establish a permanent regional Tri-State Tea Party Association, an umbrella like organization to facilitate the events/rallies of regional Tea Party Groups as well as DC based Tea Party Organizations, such as the 9/12 Project and this is our kick off event!

We will also be working on our own future rally and educational events.

Given the holiday occasion, this is a family oriented celebratory Tea Party. There will be activities for children, as well as speakers including local talk show host Dom Giordano and other notables!

So if your not going elsewhere for vacation, please come out and join us. We hope to see you there!

Wow, this is great news, TAdams!! Organizing is a lot of work, so more power to you and the others.

As you know, I am a mere 2800 miles+ to the west, don’t plan to be there but sure wish I could!!

May the Philadelphia Independence Day Tea Party be super successful!!!

Dita,

Thanks for the bump and words of encouragement. And I'll pass them along to our co-organizers!

2800 miles to the west is a tad too far to attend. : ) But we wish you could be here!

We will do our best to make it an enjoyable event worthy of the occasion. As soon as the post pics are out, you'll be the first know!

Great pic, Kid!

I love the large stone tablet with the engraved First Amendment, so near and dear to my heart.

I have expressed to you many times how Independence Hall is so near and dear to my heart. We wouldn't dream of having it any where else!

In addition, there's park service ranger's for additional security and nearby bathrooms. Hopefully, we'll draw in passersby. Many people visit our city on that day. It is a great location to get out the message of the Tea Parties!
