I saw a CNBC caption on Obama's speech that said something like the muslim world is angry at the West because of "colonialism" (I suppose that includes Israel) and "the Cold War". Did he mention anything at all about radical islam, jihad, the desire to force the entire world to submit to islam? ... I didn't think so.

First of all, he’s nort apologizing for “the American people.”. If anything, he’s apologizing for the decisions of the American government.

Secondly, I am not ashamed of the decisions made by the previous administration vis-a-vis the War on Terror. There is nothing for which we owe the barbarians or the world an apology.

Good article by Gardiner but he made one mistake. He said Obama needs to change his strategy since his tactic of apologizing and criticizing America is making America weaker. In other words, he's assuming that Obama isn't trying to make America weaker, and is doing so only by accident or stupidity (i.e., a mistaken strategy). That's a mistake on Gardiner's part. Obama knows exactly what he's doing when he humiliates our nation abroad.
