The King and Queen of America went on a date in New York City tonight. Unlike other couples, Barack and Michelle Obama's night on the town cost the American taxpayer upwards of a miilion dollars.
While there is a chance Barack paid for their dinner and theater tickets, it is a certainty that taxpayers were hit up for the massive costs of a presidential movement that involved three Gulfstream jets, cargo planes to preposition Marine helicopters, presidential limousines and other motorcade vehicles, travel, hotel and per diem costs for Secret Service advance teams, background checks on the restaurant and theater employees, manning security perimeters, maintaining checkpoints and conducting counter-terrorism and counter-espionage measures for the trip.
According to news reports this was King Obama's first visit to New York since his coronation last January. Normally, presidents will schedule at least one official act or meeting to justify a trip like this. It is pretty much unheard of for a president to joyride around the country for a night out on the the town.
But Obama fancies himself a king, and his wife a queen. It was just a few months ago when the Obama White House criticized corporate executives for flying private jets and spending corporate dollars on expensive conferences in cities like Las Vegas while their companies were being bailed out by the federal government.
Obama's government itself is being bailed out to the tune of trillions of dollars yet King Obama does not believe that he should abide by the laws he lords over others to obey.
Spendthrift hypocritical kings tend to lose their crowns. Impeachment or forced resignation could be the future of this royal couple if they carry on living like Kings and Queens on the sweaty labor of the American worker.
Yep - we've all got to have some skin in the game.

The only campaign promises he hasn’t broken have been to his family.

The question remains . . . Who did the plane pick up or drop off in Atlantic City? Since it was on the taxpayer dime we have a right to know. News this morning is reporting the White House has declined to release the cost of last night's date.

In a letter made public yesterday, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates disclosed that the flyover cost taxpayers as much as $357,000. The letter was made public by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who had raised questions about the incident.
Gates said in his letter that the flight included a training component for pilots to practice instrument approaches and landings at Atlantic City International Airport. He said that “with the exception of one combat photographer, a standard crew complement performed the mission. . . . There were no non-duty personnel or passengers on board.”
Gates wrote that the flyover had been planned for weeks and coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration liaisons in the region, air traffic control representatives and tower supervisors. The FAA notified the office of New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I), the U.S. Park Police, the New York Police Department and other local agencies three days before the flight.
But, Gates added, “I am concerned that this highly public and visible mission did not include an appropriate public affairs plan nor adequate review and approval by senior Air Force and [Department of Defense] officials.”

How frequently does the military practice instrument approaches at public airports? I may be wrong, but it seems like this line is BS. DC to Atlantic City to NYC. Interesting flight stops. There seems to be so much more to that flight than acknowledged.
