Made In China
One word: gross.
Actually, these are primarily made for barefoot running.
If you’re not into running, you might not know, but there is actually some substantial research that running shoes can cause foot and leg fatigue because they’re too soft.
The research, in part, came from study the Tarahumara tribe in Mexico. This tribe is known to be able to run distances of 100 miles in a day and run those distances for days in a row. Marathon runners have gone and lived with the Tarahumara to learn how to run these types of ultra distances.
These shoes are primarily built for “barefoot running”. They give you some protection on the bottom of your foot without creating any addition cushion.
A friend of mine has them and I call them “Gorilla Feet”, but he said after the first 2 weeks, he was using muscles in his legs he didn’t ever remember feeling. And, he runs 40+ miles/week. Latest report is that is relative time/distance is up 20% (meaning he’s running faster for longer).
Even though they do look strange, their purpose apparently works.
Reminds me of toe sox, which I used to wear. They weren’t all thata comfortable tho....
They remind me of an obi, which is ceremonially worn in Japan for some occasions..
Live near a nuc plant all your life I see
Birkenstocks may be ugly, but mine are the second most comfortable shoes I own. Of course, at my age, I don’t care what looks good...I just like to be able to walk in it.
Nothing quite says, "I enjoy the smell of patchouli oil & body odor while listening to my beloved Barack Hussein Obama while eating a bowl of flavorless granola..." like a pair of hideous Birkenstocks. ;-)
Nah, momma drank lot’s of transformer oil and smoked luckies.
Oops, sorry. See my post just below...
A really well made pair of flip flops is the most comfortable thing imaginable! I had a pair with cushy soles, I literally wore them out. I miss ‘em....
Both of your posts put me in mind of Larry, Darryl and Darryl... ;)
Math ain’t my strong point. I assume there are 2 knees with legs attached. And I also see no reason to assume they’re not as nice as the other 8.
Don’t be sorry. Clearly, you’re leaving more Birkenstocks for me!
I've read something similar. Those that run with shoes are more prone to certain injuries like sprains and such because the terrain is less known to the runner.
Of course barefoots have to worry about puncture wounds. If the sole of these shoes is flexible but resistant to puncture, they might be perfect for runners.
Apparently so.
Oh the Horror! you could save the waterboarding and putting panties on my head, just stick a pair of flip-flops on me and I'll sign like a birdie!
You lived up to your name with that one! Bad kitty!
Vibram soles are what makes Rockports so comfortable. These might be worth a look. I cannot find a running shoe yet that gives me enough cofort and support....
