Democrats hang fire on guns {Dems feel forced to vote for gun bills]
Washington Times ^ | May 22, 2009 | Editorial

There is one thing that can be said of President Obama with certainty -- his election has had a phenomenal effect on gun sales.

Across the country, ammunition prices are soaring and many guns are in short supply as weapons fly off the shelves at stores. This is a telling economic indicator about consumer confidence as many Americans stock up for fear that the end is nigh. It's also a logical reaction to gun-owner fears that Democrats will implement far-reaching new gun controls. There is cause for concern. Leaders in the Obama administration and Congress have stated that they plan to limit what guns Americans can buy and that guns should be registered. . . . .

[The Durbin quotes at the end of this piece are important.]

0bama specifically said he didn’t want to take people’s guns away.... Remember his words? “I don’t have the votes.”

But he might get a UN-loving replacement for Souter. The ‘law’ could end-run the people, or, maybe the US government could consider ‘buying out’ gun companies.

All dictators understand that you have to disarm the people before you really tear into them.

I was ridiuled on FR a couple of months ago for suggesting that this was coming. Who knows. Maybe it’ll be speed read into one of the upcoming bills. Even after the fact.

"The elites know that guns are the final line in the sand that they cross only when they’re ready to be shot at."

Or when they're ready for their puppets to be shot at, perhaps a fatal miscalculation by the elites.

"...ammunition prices are soaring ..."

This, taken with the scarcity, makes one put on a tinfoil hat and wonder if Felix Dzerhinsky is alive, well, and working, once again, for the marxist scum.

Explains why more people are buying their guns.

In the sweet old country where I come from
Nobody ever works
Yeah nothing gets done
We hang fire, we hang fire
You know marrying money is a full time job
I don’t need the aggravation
I’m a lazy slob
I hang fire, I hang fire
Hang fire, put it on the wire
We’ve got nothing to eat
We got nowhere to work
Nothing to drink
We just lost our shirts
I’m on the dole
We ain’t for hire
Say what the hell
Say what the hell, hang fire
Hang fire, hang fire, put it on the wire
Doo doo doo
here’s ten thousand dollars go have some fun
Put it all on at a hundred to one
Hang fire, hang fire, put it on the wire

I heard someone comment the other day that if a “Waco” were to occur today, the feds would have more to worry about from snipers OUTSIDE their perimeter than from within.

Interesting point, ammo manufactures too

Of course it would be for "National Security"

Remember what SENATOR Obama said:

“Even if I want to take [guns] away, I don’t have the votes in Congress.’’

I take that to mean the only thing stopping him is the right number of yea votes.

For those of you who don’t like the NRA for one reason or another, realize that this is the fruit of 30 or more years of consistant lobbying and work building the gun control issue into a “third rail” issue (touch it and you die).

The NRA now have the Democrats “stump broke” on this issue. You would think with the Obama/Democrat/Socialist/Marxist majority, new gun control would be easy.

Thank the NRA and it’s loyal supporting members.

I have to agree, this is totally outside the realm of normal politics, our normal theories and arguments don't explain it, this is simply the result of the single minded yet brilliant efforts of the most effective political organization in America.

My fear is that Obama will sign a UN treaty which will effectively ban gun ownership here altogether, totally bypassing the Congress.

He can’t bypass Congress - treaties are ratified by the Senate. Ain’t gonna happen.

Democrats are torn between their constituents' support for gun rights and an Obama administration committed to gun control.

All these Rats need to ask themselves is...Who put you in office, your constituents or B Hussein Obama?
