Feeling bruised and abused this morning? Well, you can't say you didn't see it coming. The polls have been saying for weeks that voters were going to do just what they did on Tuesday: Conclusively reject your slate on the ballot, Propositions 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D and 1E.

oh, and don't forget this oldie but goodie - Nov. 1994 after the Republican wave took the US House -

“Some thoughts on those angry voters. Ask parents of any two-year-old and they can tell you about those temper tantrums: the stomping feet, the rolling eyes, the screaming. It's clear that the anger controls the child and not the other way around. It's the job of the parent to teach the child to control the anger and channel it in a positive way. Imagine a nation full of uncontrolled two-year-old rage. The voters had a temper tantrum last week....Parenting and governing don't have to be dirty words: the nation can't be run by an angry two-year-old.”
— ABC World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings in his daily ABC Radio commentary, November 14.

Those journos just don't like having their tax buddies lose, do they?

The second editorial is rather reasonable. The first is insulting. No wonder they are shedding readers.

Amazing, isn't it? "Democracy" no longer means that the people vote to make political decisions. It evidently means that people support the power of government to oversee "fairness" and to "empathize" with people.

In order to be "democratic" we must all support every "feel-good" bit of legislation passed by those who know better than we what is good for us.
