Feeling bruised and abused this morning? Well, you can't say you didn't see it coming. The polls have been saying for weeks that voters were going to do just what they did on Tuesday: Conclusively reject your slate on the ballot, Propositions 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D and 1E.

This is what appeared this morning before it was pulled -- no doubt because of the furor it caused among readers, and the little fact that el Rushbo mentioned it today on his show as a snarky example of the disdain with which the drive-by's regard the great masses of the unwashed, aka: the Proletariat.
Editorial: You did it! Uh, so what now?Good morning, California voters. Do you feel better, now that you've gotten that out of your system?
You wanted to show the state's politicians just how mad you are at them. And you did. Boy, did you ever.
Proposition 1A with its taxes and its spending limit? Too much of one and not enough of the other, you said (or was it the other way around), and voted it down. Never mind that the taxes go into efffect anyway. You showed 'em.
Proposition 1B? That was a tougher call.
Proposition 1C? No way. You like the lottery just like it is. And all they were going to do with that extra $5 billion was spend it.
Propositions 1D and 1E? Forget it. You had already voted to put money into preschool and mental health programs. You're not taking it out now.
And 1F? Heck, yeah! Let's not pay our legislators if they can't pass a budget on time. So what if it likely won't have any effect, or that this year they actually passed a budget months earlier than they needed to? That's not the point.
The point is that you're sick and tired of all this political mumbo-jumbo. So you showed those politicians who's in charge. You. You're now officially in charge of a state that will be something like $25 billion in the hole for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
So, now that you've put those irksome politicians in their place, maybe it's time to think about this: Since you're in charge, exactly what do you intend
...That sounds a lot like work, you say? Sorry, no whining allowed. You asked for this job. Now you've got it, so get on it. Oh, and remember. The entire nation is watching to see how you do now that you're in charge.
Later in the day, the offensive editorial was removed and replaced with a more "reasonable" one that sided with voters. When contacted by show producer Dave Logan to inquire why the switch out, Melanie Sill, Sacbee editor and senior vice president, Editorial Administration Department, claimed the first editorial was a draft of notes, "thoughts" put together on a page, and because they were on deadline, someone mistakenly published the piece. It was never intended to be published. "It was a mistake", she assured him. I bet it was.
Ms. Sill assured Dave that this "mistake" appeared only in the online edition. The Sacbee's paper version went out with the current editorial. We checked the morning edition and she's correct.
Has it ever happened before? "Yes," she admitted. "But nothing like this."
Indeed...
Note to our readers: Many of the comments below refer to an article that was posted in error. That article was a draft prepared for internal discussion among members of The Bee's editorial board. Such discussions are a routine part of our work, and frequently lead to editorials that are considerably different from writers' first drafts.
That's what happened in this case. After discussion, we decided that our initial editorial about the special election should take a different tack. The result was the editorial that now appears on this page. This editorial is the only editorial about the special election that appeared in Wednesday's editions of The Bee.

The Sacramento Bee is as irrelevant as their McClatchy ugly step-sister here, the Raleigh News & Observer. Ugh!
LOL what a bunch of clowns. No wonder the media is dying a far too slow and not nearly painful enough death.
A perfect way to keep subscribers: show that your opinions are in lock-step with the mindset of your clientele. So chalk this up as example #427,866 why it’s the liberals who are the out-of-touch extremists.
“LOL what a bunch of clowns.”
Yep and pretty soon they will have their little clown cars to drive around!
I’m glad my F150s are user friendly.
Unfortunately I can see the government pulling them off the road and forcing me to buy from them.
ROTFLMAO
It is fun to watch ‘em squirm though.
Conservative: Oh, please LET us....
These “journalists” are incompetent hacks, simply amazing that they are even hired to write!
in 5 years the SacBee will NOT EXIST! buh-bye..!
Isn’t “the sac” one of those Democrat big city papers that’s dying?
As I've said before, the media could instigate a flaming, bloody national tax revolt in 2 months without even breathing hard.
Instead, it's "Rah, Rah, Sis Boom Bah! More Taxes! Better!" all freaking day long.
The readers comments on the editorial were so loud and nasty you could hear them in Florida!
"You can blame the voters for reacting with uninformed and misplaced anger. Or you can look in the mirror and admit you had it coming. And you know you did. Over the last couple of decades you and your predecessors in both parties created an environment of cynicism that poisoned Californians' faith in democracy."
Yep, the reason that voters didn't pass this crap is that they're uninformed. Their anger is misplaced--they should be mad at...George Bush, I guess. Voters just didn't have enough "faith in democracy"...so they VOTED.
A new low in cowardice . . . even for Liberals.
I’m sure that Andrea Shea King is the closest thing the Bee has to a fat welfare momma. Affirmative Action/fat welfare momma - same thing.
I’m curious if Andrea Shea King has 5 or 10 drunk boyfriends at her section 8 apartment.
Thanks for the original...and its replacement.
Not only is the media liberal. They are also deep down dishonest.
They should be ashamed of themselves. But they don't know shame...
They are not in their place until they are in the unemployment line.
