Let the state go bankrupt ... fire all politicians'
Orange County Register ^ | 5/19/2009 | DOUG IRVING

The polls opened this morning for an election few apparently wanted, amid a slow boil of frustration at the circumstances – and the politicians – that forced it to the ballot in the first place.

Orange County voters made it clear they're none too happy about it.

The next ballot initiative should be something like this:

A budget deficit (as verified by a 3rd party) will void all union labor contracts for that fiscal year and open them to renegotiation as well as trigger a special election of the entire State Assembly and Senate.

What bothers me, is that they can only cut things like education, teachers, police, fire, and other necessities. They don’t get rid of dead wood like the multitude of commissions or other non essential liberal pipe dreams.

Good, let them get cut, slashed and downsized, and those left, reduce all their pensions, benefits and wages. I'm all for it.

Watch what happens then as the departments of government that were cut off from the tax paid golden goose, will attack those left, still clinging onto their golden goose tax teet.

I want to see this thing unravel in a really big way.

Communities are going to have public schools. I believe they need to be much more autonomous and self-ruled.

I would like to see almost all local funds stay within the community to be used on education. I would only reserve a little of it to help out some of the smallest schools with very little support base. I would agree that parents could be tapped to help pay those expenses. If their taxes were reduced, they could do that much more easily.

I do see some very negative aspects of public education, that you and I would certainly agree about.

If you have a plan that sees the schools privatized or some such, I’m not opposed to it. I’m just not sure what type of structure takes place of what we have other than what I have mentioned.

Yeah, and start independent investigations on everyone in leadership positions, and those involved in any state or county contracts. Start with their financials and dig deep, and start looking at the friends and who they're contacting on a daily basis.

Start drug testing the teachers on random basis en mass, just like the little guys down at home depot. Same with the politicians and the governor.

Force these AHs out of their high rise tax paid offices in LA, SF, and Sacramento, and lease those offices to people that actually produce and make money.

Then what's left of these bloated government workers, put them in mobile trailers in some field in Fresno, and pay them minimum wage for the privilege of serving the people.

These people in government need to rediscover who in the hell they work for.

When Kally-fornea finally goes tits-up, defaults, and starts shutting down the Nanny-State they have set up down there, I think the further one lives from the Interstates that lead out of town when the exodus starts, the better...

Here is a recommended fix:

1) Stop funding health care for illegal aliens
2) Stop funding education for illegal aliens
3) Stop funding housing substities for illegal aliens
4) Stop funding income substities for illegal aliens
5) Transfer all illegal aliens in state prisons to federal prisons
6) Privatize state prision system to get the union off the public dole
7) Privatize California Public schools to get union off public dole
8) Cease state funding of state employee retirement progams and go to private funding
9) Stop union political contributions which are being used to drive up state costs through special interest measures
10) Split California into the Socialist Republic of Del Norte California and the Peoples Republic of South California
11) Shut down California Air Resources Board
12) Eliminate the California Integrated Waste Management Board
13) Eliminate state's Medi-Cal health care program

"I still maintain that despite the "NO WAY IN HELL" landslide, the 9th Circus is gonna overturn the votes and raise the absolute Mother Of All Taxes..."

I keep reading Freepers making this assertion. Can you explain to me just how exactly a Federal appeals court can impose taxes on a state?

Thanks...

I would like to see some of the following changes.

A restructuring of the school boards, faculties, and staff to make sure they aren’t top heavy.

I would like an assessment of just what is a part of education and what isn’t. I’m not sold on the idea our schools need to be all things to all students. Education comes first, and other things can be taken care of by the parents if the child needs it.

We have crammed all sorts of things into the schools, because there are problems in the home, or there is a problem with legal status, or ability to pay. That is not the mandate of the school. The school mandate is to educate, end of story.

I would like to see a total review of all support programs for disabled students. I am aware of programs that force schools ‘to educate’ children in the classroom, that have no ability whatsoever to benefit from the program. Some kids with a five year old and under learning ability are forced into the classroom by mothers who want a school experience for the child. And some of these chidren need constant medical attention. You would be amazed at the funds each of these special cases burn through.

Any teaching materials developed by the federal government is suspect. Any teaching materials originating from UNESCO, should be barred from school premises.

Any homosexual agenda should be taught at home, not the school. Any sexual education beyond the very basics should also be relegated to be taught at home. And I’m not sold on the idea any of it needs to be taught in school.

Any attempt to brainwash the children with socialist policies should result in the adults involved being tossed out of the learning institution. And that termination should preclude them from employed by any U.S. learning institutions in the future.

Taxation for schools should be a local matter. None of it should be forwarded to the federal government. The Department of Education should be eliminated.

Schools from K to university level should be run in a politics neutral environment. Poli Sci classes would obviously delve into different systems of governance, but the teachers would not be allowed to trash our government without providing reasoned balance. Perhaps two teachers should be required to teach these classes, with nine weeks going to one teacher and nine to another with a different overall view of things. All I know is that our universities and now even some lower education centers are operating as if wings of the DNC.

No school should be allowed to pack it’s faculty with a staff that is 90% democrats. Some reasoned balance would be a requirement at all learning institutions.

I could go on. This for starters...

in much the same way they implemented shipping kids hours away from home on school buses.

They felt it needed to be done

The only solution is a massive earthquake that totals either San Francisco or Los Angeles. Until there is massive destruction, there will be no solution

How about this: if you have kids you pay for their education. Forcing your neighbors to pay for the education of your children not only violates the principles the country was founded on, it also runs afoul of two of God’s commandments.
