This same verse could be used to demonstrate my point:
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. (Psalm 19:1)
See, we're looking at it from the perspective, "why would God trick us into thinking that the Earth is really old?" But that question presumes our examination of the Earth comes from the skeptical perspective of asking of science. Think instead of the question, "What is God showing us through the structure of the Earth?"

But I've got to tell you, nothing sounds like a mind closed with a death grip when instead of stating, "That would seem to contradict this verse of scripture?" (or God forbid, phrasing it as a question like, "How do you reconcile that with this verse?"), you jump straight to saying, "because that would God a liar." In a sense, you are asserting, "You can't possibly have had a thought I didn't already have, so if you say something I wouldn't've have said, you must be perverting the truth!"

I see no point in continuing this discussion. You will never change you mind and I’m not going to either. So go hug your bible and I’ll continue to laugh at you and GGG’s lame attempts to discredit science.

Humans have belly buttons. Adam is a human. If Adam did not have a belly button, Adam would be different from the rest of humans. So, yes, if Adam didn’t have a belly button, my argument falls apart.

[[L:ook who’s talking about a notoriously deceitful site]]

Do yourself a favor and head over to TRUEORIGIN.ORG to discover just how deceitful talkorigins really is- Trueorigins has caught them in many many many very serious and blatant outright lies- talkorigins has very little credibility scientifically, but do keep posting links to hteir site- it just shows how sad a shape macroevolution is really in, and just undermines anyhting put forth as a ‘counterargument’ to creation- you might as well be citing the huffington post as your source for ‘refutations’-

Why include C-14, but leave out Uranium which is what the current Earth-age estimates are based on?

So you don’t even agree with the article you have posted yourself, but it mentions the word ‘flood’ so you jump all in it.

In previous posts, the evidence for megafloods from all over the world was offered as support for the universal Flood. But now they're supposed to be individual floods that occurred after the big one. One gets the sense that anti-evolutionists will throw any scrap of idea against the wall to see if they can get it to stick, without much concern for whether it matches what they said before.

if you accept the timeline proposed by what could be called main stream science (MSS) you are denying god, the bible, and all that is good. MSS is apparently full of athiest liberal god haters out to destroy america through communism and eugenics. MSS and those who follow naturalistic somethine or other and darwinism are out to decieve you and every other christian in an attempt to dilute faith and bring us all toward communism and athiesm.
i think that’s the gist of the argument. i mostly try to follow along, throwing in a few ‘non-sequiturs’ (pardon the pun) as editorial.

Most people would capitalize 'God'. He is a deity you know.

some even capitalize the implied word because they won’t write/type it. i don’t think god minds if i’m a lazy typist.

Interesting stuff. What is equally interesting is that the south of England and north of France don´t show any evidence of a great flood. Why would that be?

No evidence of a great flood in the South of England?

I look at the cliffs of Dover and understand something pretty great happened there.

Also, I suppose “great flood” could mean different things to different people.

When paratroopers drowned before D-Day when the Germans flooded the north of France, it seemed like a great flood (and tragedy) at the time.

Britain as Evidence for the Flood

On July 18, 2007, Nature magazine’s news writer Quirin Schiermeier reported on a scientific study that has made headlines around the world. Since the 1980s, various scientists have proposed that the island of England was created by flooding. Recently, Sanjeev Gupta, from the Imperial College of London, and his research team explored the geological features in and around the island. From the study, Sanjeev and colleagues discovered some very interesting features that led them to an even more interesting conclusion.

Schiermeier wrote that Gupta and his team “used data from the UK Hydrographic Office, collected for the purpose of ensuring safe navigation, to map the sea floor.... More recent data was collected by ships equipped with GPS and high-resolution acoustic measurement devices” (2007). From the data, Gupta and his co-researchers concluded: “The data show a collection of landforms that, taken together, indicate a catastrophic flood origin” (Gupta, et al., 2007). They further stated: “Our study provides the first direct evidence that a megaflood event was responsible for carving the English Channel valley network” (2007). [NOTE: It might surprise the reader that, although megafloods are so massive, geological records of their impact are often subtle and difficult to identify according to Gupta and his colleagues (Schiermeier, 2007).]

Scientific Evidence for a Worldwide Flood

Two Vastly Different World Views, with Vastly Different Conclusions:

Let’s not kid ourselves. What this is all about is whether or not the Old Testament book of Genesis (along with the rest of the Old Testament, and the New Testament) is an accurate account of what happened around 4600 years ago with regard to a worldwide flood, and about 6000 years ago, with regard to Creation itself.

Was virtually all of the sedimentary strata laid down by a single Worldwide Deluge in a short amount of time, or is the evolutionary scenario of slow change, acting over eons of T-I-M-E, and the associated Geological Time Chart (with its millions and millions of years) a more accurate account of Earth history?

Very few of these upright fossil trees have attached roots, and only about 1 in 50 8 have both roots and rootlets attached. Such trees, and their — more often than not — missing roots, are discussed in much more detail in The “Fossil Forests” of Nova Scotia. 9 Likewise, many (if not most) of the large, fragmented, and broken-off Stigmaria roots are also missing their rootlets. 9

Many of these roots and rootlets, are also buried individually. 9 This strongly suggests that these trees did not grow in the same places where they were buried, but rather were uprooted and re-deposited there.

Similar circumstances occur at various other places in Nova Scotia, as well as in the United States, England, Germany, and France. Another place where large tree stumps are preserved without their roots attached is Axel Heiberg 10,11 Island in Northern Canada.
