Tea Parties Just the Beginning
Townhall.com ^ | May 15, 2009 | Donald Lambro

WASHINGTON -- Last month's nationwide "Tea Party" demonstrations -- protesting massive government spending increases and rising taxes -- were minimalized by the national news media.

Liberal big-government groups dismissed them as the work of right-wing advocacy organizations in Washington and claimed that the events were so dispersed, most of them in small cities and towns, no one could be sure how many had actually turned out to attend them.

More than 600,000 people in nearly 600 localities -- from Bakersfield, Calif., to Atlanta, Ga. -- turned out to vent their anger over the Democrats' massive-spending levels. And a rally-by-rally account of the people who attended the events suggests that turnout could have been much higher.

The seemingly spontaneous April 15 protests have since grown into a more muscular movement of patriotic Americans

Hey, let the MSM and liberal elites marginalize everyone. They will be shocked at election results in 2010 and 2012. Let them get over-confident that the tea parties represent a fringe movement. Obama said he wasn’t aware that they were going on. Let them get over-confident.

Well, I wish it had been somebody other than Lambro, because he’s been consistently wrong in his prognostications.l

Liberal big-government groups dismissed them

Yep, yep, yep... Just wait until July 4th Tea Party when EVERYONE and their uncles will be off work... I'll bet the numbers will be way over 850,000 good folks.

We are gonna be louder, bigger and Obama cannot ignore us anymore...

The Tea Party's...”were minimalized by the national news media”

The Tea Party's were minimalized by a Nationalized News Media. There...that fixed it.

We are gonna be louder, bigger and Obama cannot ignore us anymore...

When he reaches that point that he can't ignore us, then he'll:

Tax us
Arrent us
Execute us

All of those, in that order. It's the fatherly advice he got from fellow-thug Chavez.

It is VITALLY important to:

1. INSIST that this is about an unresponsive, profligate, unrepresentative government; and

2. NOT just the “tax protest” that the media has been desperately trying to make it out to be!

Please GET IN THE FACE of every on-scene TV reporter that tries to pass off this lie - I did it on April 15!

Is there an FReeper living in Omaha who would be willing to spend a couple hours on July 3 at 90th and Dodge holding the other half of my sign bearing the message “Where was obama born?” ?

A little shameless self-promotion.

I’ll certainly be there at the July 4th event.

A tea party was at the beginning of another revolution awhile back, as I recall.

Actually, I wish you wouldn’t do this. Although I agree with you, I think that it dilutes the key message of the movement, and gives the media an easy way to dismiss what we are trying to accomplish. Because while Obama IS a major part of the problems we face, so are FAR too many other politicians of both parties, who have made a career of lying to us to keep their place on the government gravy train.

Solve that, instead, and the Obama problem will solve itself. For example, the states could solve it by not allowing their electoral votes to go to candidates who have not established their Constitutional eligibility.

...somebody other than Lambro, because he’s been consistently wrong in his prognostications.

Well, he is wrong on his numbers in this piece.

FReeper Henchster created a Tea Party Roll Call from FReepers reporting in on a thread here on FR. IIRC, the accounts were sourced with local "news" reports.

The final report shows:
907 locations, 789,687 low count, 854,017 average count and 917,446 high count.
I've also seen reports of 1.2 million in attendance.
