Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today in response to a message today to CIA Employees from Director Leon Panetta:
“We all share great respect for the dedicated men and women of the intelligence community who are deeply committed to the safety and security of the American people. My criticism of the manner in which the Bush Administration did not appropriately inform Congress is separate from my respect for those in the intelligence community who work to keep our country safe. What is important now is to be united in our commitment to ensuring the security of our country; that, and how Congress exercises its oversight responsibilities, will continue to be my focus as we move forward.”
She definitely fits the meaning of #3, and she may fit #1 and #2.

Didn’t all this start with Obama releasing the classified memos? Then that led to debates about whether the attorneys who wrote the memos about the interrogation techniques could be prosecuted? Then Dick Cheney came out and said the techniques gave us good information, and asked for more memos indicating success? Then the calls for investigations into the Bush administration? Then didn’t all of that lead to where we are today, with Nancy Pelosi being exposed as having knowledge of the alleged “war crimes” of the Bush administration, but having done nothing at the time????????
In retrospect, don’t they wish they let sleeping dogs lie, rather than getting on their high horse about their moral superiority to the “evil” Bush administration, and America having lost the respect of the world because we “tortured” in response to 9/11???????
If the Dems. from Obama on down had not been talking about how we need to investigate and maybe prosecute the Bush administration, none of this would have happened. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of good Democrats and their “moral authority”.
