Panetta to CIA employees: We told Pelosi the truth

CIA Director Leon Panetta just sent a stern message to his employees defending the agency against Speaker Nancy Pelosi's criticisms.

His message: We didn't mislead Congress; stay focused on your job.

Panetta's note was sent to reporters via the CIA press office. Here's the key graph:

"Let me be clear: It is not our policy or practice to mislead Congress. That is against our laws and our values. As the Agency indicated previously in response to Congressional inquiries, our contemporaneous records from September 2002 indicate that CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, describing “the enhanced techniques that had been employed.” Ultimately, it is up to Congress to evaluate all the evidence and reach its own conclusions about what happened."

Yea, but do the Democrats what this ugly picture (literally) hanging around into the 2010 election cycle. Hopefully the American people will vote a Republican (and conservative)Congress in 18 months. Nancy (the San Francisco Treat) would make a great target for the Republicans—especially if there another terrorist attach on the USA.

You folks seem to forget that there are different standards for Democrats and Republicans. I expect her to ride this out; what the press wants is more Bush-bashing, and they'll call her a hypocrite and maybe even a liar, but no one will demand her resignation.

I agree totally she is not going to roll over because I think she believes her own lies. The MSM will only be after her for a short time so the only way she is gone is if the rats eat one of their own, which they do not do.

Panetta is a Clintonista, first and foremost. He has no allegiance to Pelosi; he may even be leading the charge to now destroy her after her latest (and biggest) fib.

It makes me wonder what's behind that loyalty -- is it that he's genuinely defensive of his agency?

Paneta would not be defending the CIA against Pelosi unless Obama told him to. That he is gong after her in such unambiguous terms means that Obama wants her gone. Pelosi was more dangerous to Obama than the GOP. She had real power as speaker, and she had the Kook California power base that was independent of Obama. She owed Obama nothing and he had little to offer her.

Tyrants will not put up with anyone who has power not being completely under their control. Stalin eliminated Trotsky and Castro disposed of Che. Like them Pelosi helped Obama into power, but when she refued to do what he wanted on the budget it was just a matter of time before she had to be rendered harmless. He may allow her to keep her house seat, but she will not be allowed to be speaker.

By using this scandal to be rid of her Obama doesn't have to get his hands dirty. She will simply be pushed aside and replaced by someone who has no power except for that which comes from Obama. Its the Chicago way.

Republican RINO’s screwed the Conservatives. The Conservatives have got to Get-A-Clue. Then Conservatives have to REMOVE RINO’s, period.
