Democrats charged Tuesday that the CIA has released documents about congressional briefings on harsh interrogation techniques in order to deflect attention and blame away from itself.
“I think there is so much embarrassment in some quarters [of the CIA] that people are going to try to shift some of the responsibility to others — that’s what I think,” said Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), who sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee and was briefed on interrogation techniques five times between 2006 and 2007.
Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, said he finds it “interesting” that a document detailing congressional briefings was released just as “some of the groups that have been responsible for these interrogation techniques were taking the most criticism.”
Asked whether the CIA was seeking political cover by releasing the documents, Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said: “Sure it is.”
The CIA has long been on the receiving end of harsh rebukes from Congress — on intelligence failures leading up to the war in Iraq, on secret prisons abroad and on the harsh interrogation techniques used on terrorism suspects. But with the release of records showing that it briefed members of Congress along the way, the CIA has effectively put lawmakers on the defensive.
Intelligence officials insist it wasn’t intentional and have not taken responsibility for publicly releasing the documents.

I know Bush was not perfect by any means. But he was the President and the CIA leaked and produced the Wilsons as soon as he got into office. The CIA failed to leak Wilson’s report from Africa and permitted his lies to the 911 commission to stand. Oh, and we know they can leak like a seive when they want to. Truth does not have much to do with it and neither does the classification of documents.
The CIA missed the Soviet Union falling or did not want it to be so. The CIA missed the Muslim attack on the US and many other Muslim attacks on our people overseas. They did not create a brain thrust of Arab speakers and spies for the Muslim radical wackjobs when it was clear, way before 911, that Muslims were out to kill Americans.
They sure did not speak up when Clinton went to war against Serbia on behalf of the Muslims there. No leaking on Clinton.
I trust the CIA about as much as I trust the KGB. They are no friend to the constitution nor to the American people. They let a Marxist who is probably not constitutionally qualified for the presidency, run for office with no leaks. They like Marxists...until the Marxists come after them. I hope they all eat each other. No good guys for American-Americans to root for in this fight. Just a bunch of power hungry elitists in a pissing match.

Of course it’s difficult for CIA to forget with that memorial from 9/11.

Wonder what the Christians In Action know about birth certificates and/or foreign births. Bet they could find any overseas records, if they had a mind to. The DemonRatic leadership seems to be pushing their thoughts in those directions.

The latest meme being thrown out for public consumption is that Bush broke the law because he failed to disclose the use of waterboarding to Democrats until six months after it was first deployed. Even if that doesn't fly, the Dems...at least the ones at DU...indicate that they are more than willing to throw Pelosi under the bus to get Bush and Cheney.
