All of April and the start of May 2009 find us still being bombarded by the media hyping up the first 100 days of President Obama with no sign of it dying down. Following the introduction to the monthly thread I will post some photos to remind us of the first few days of the first May of the George W Bush Presidency - those were the days.
The quote I have chosen for this month are remarks made during Commander-In-Chief Trophy Event at the South Portico on May 4, 2001.
Tomorrow I will post some more photos from May 2001 I am sure we will see the contrast what we see and hear from the first few months of the Bush Presidency to the Obama Presidency will make us realise even more so how much more respect and love GWB had for the office and the country and more importantly the individual citizens rather than just special interest groups as the current President does not even bother to try to hide.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
...or...the squatter in the people’s home! :D
In case anyone missed it, here’s the latest video of the man we miss so much. Look at him .... graciousness, smiles, looking so handsome. Lord, I wish so so so much he was in our White House now.

Thoroughly enjoying my trip to Sanity Island...thank you!!
Oh how I miss him...
WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Can we have a re-vote??? Can he run for a third term??
Great video, Star! Thanks!
Wonderful picture!
Ah, not often do I quote Willie Nelson, but, somehow this is fittingly apropos..."My heroes have always been cowboys and they still are, it seems."
I wasn’t a big fan of President Bush on alot of issues. I always saw him as a moderate Democrat rather than a conservative.
BUT.....God I miss him now!
Oh, my. It’s so nice to see pictures of a REAL President, again.
You are SO right! I was wondering why he always seemed so odd to me, and your words put it concrete terms.
I just call him "That One".
WOW !! I was so glad to see these. Thanks for the post.
I’m happy to say I have never, in my almost five years and 6000 posts on FR, bashed President Bush or VP Cheney.
I’m happy to see you realize what we have lost; that’s usually how it works.
They are AMERICANS. That sentiment is sorely lacking nowadays amongst politicians.
my favourite
That pic on left was from the ‘04 Inauguration (pretty sure!). I was there, had tons of fun. It was a big surprise to me to get an invite, I had volunteered out of state and was floored because I expected nothing. The fact that I got an invite was incredible. Good times!
The good ole days! I miss President Bush more and more each day. I felt much safer and my wallet was less threatened under his leadership. Sigh - its gonna be a long 4 years.
