Yo Navymom—I’m still guardedly optimistic that it won’t take a second revolution to take our country back from a tyrant.

This past 10 days has demonstrated the extent to which The Usurper’s government is a tragic joke. There are signs The Marxist Onada and his gang have over reached. These include the Tea Parties, the failure of the US Senate to support Onada’s mortgagee bailout today and attempts by some institutions that received bail out money to give it back.

It is also possible that we may be hit by another terrorist attack. Given what The Messiah and his crowd are doing to diminish national security—making it harder for the to do its job, shuttering Guantanamo and making it harder to surveil terrorists—it’s possible the US will get hit again. And the man sitting in the WH will not be able to blame it on Bush. He’ll own that one lock, stock and barrel.

One thing I’m confident of is this. Ultimately, the communist model will fail here—just it did or is doing every where else it’s been tried.

You are correct that Americans have had it so good for so long, they have no clue what real hunger and pain are about. But the communists have never successfully bred out the human liberty spark that exists in all us humans.

Judge Sotomayor received her J.D. from Yale University in 1979 and graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1976. At Yale, Judge Sotomayor served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal and managing editor of the Yale Studies in World Public Order. She has been a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit since October 7, 1998. From October 2, 1992 until her recent appointment, she served as a United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York.

Judge Sotomayor began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in New York County. In 1984 she joined the law firm of Pavia & Harcourt, where she later became partner. Her focus at the firm was on intellectual property issues and international litigation and arbitration of commercial and commodity export trading cases. She also served as a member of the Second Circuit Task Force on Gender, Racial and Ethnic Fairness in the Courts and was formerly on the Board of Directors of the State of New York Mortgage Agency, the New York City Campaign Finance Board, the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund and the Maternity Center Association.

Judge Sotomayor has received honorary degrees from Herbert H. Lehman College, Princeton University, Brooklyn Law School, Pace University School of Law, and Hofstra University. She is also an Adjunct Professor at New York University School of Law and a Lecturer-in-Law at Columbia University School of Law.

Judge Sotomayor is actively involved in the local and national legal community. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York City Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association, the National Hispanic Bar Association, the Puerto Rican Bar Association and the Association of Hispanic Judges and the American Philosophical Society. Judge Sotomayor is also a frequent speaker and panelist at bar conferences and law schools.

WHO REMEMBERS when Byron White retired? Byron White was appointed by (D)Johnson. History shows that he became increasingly Conservative on the SC. He could have retired and been replaced by a Republican President but he thought that it was only right that since he was appointed by a Democrat he should be replaced by a Democrat. It was the “tradition” if a SC Justice chose to retire, and not expire, that you defer to a President of the same party who appointed you.

Apparently, David Souter is such a committed liberal scumbag that he saw no need to HONOR this tradition. What a POS he is to the very end. I hope and pray Republicans make a huge stink about this lack of honor and insist that any nominee be a moderate(the best we can do) and not a flaming liberal.

Also, I strongly suspect Souter would have retired even if McCain had won.

You’re absolutely right. It began with the so-called “Jewish seat” when Louis Brandeis was appointed in 1916 and it continues today.
The Supreme Court Historical Society has even published a book called: Jewish Justices of the Supreme Court Revisited: Brandeis to Fortas.

Souter’s vote rarely decides any cases for us - when was the last decision he was an asset to us? There are only two potential net outcomes:

1. Old Souter (left) replaced with young Souter (left) - no change.
2. Apparent left turns out center-left swinger (small net gain, perhaps good for a half dozen decisions per year, like a sub-Kennedy), or apparent center-left swinger (unlikely nomination, except by lamestream media standards) turns out more center (like somewhere between Kennedy and Sandra Day O’Connor; the latter really was a net asset).

If I was to gamble, I’d say he will choose a hispanic female, like Sonia Sotomayor (not a TERRIBLE choice), or Martha Vázquez (not so good).

If Scalia, Thomas, Alito, Roberts, and Kennedy remain during Obama’s tenure, concern should be limited.
