If Mitt Romney is in, I'm out!
Declaration of Independence | April 30, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/30/2009 11:50:51 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore.

Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package).

But Romney is a NO go. And I don't care who this socialist, abortionist, homosexualist, constitution trampling bastard picks for running mate. If Romney's in I'm out!

G.O.P., R.I.P!

I don't see the point of attacking Romney or his supporters. He had a solid pro-America, pro-military, pro-life...

"pro life..." depended on when and where you talked to the Mythster.

He “reassured” Massachusetts voters that he was pro-abortion to the core both in campaign runs in 1994 and 2002. We all know about his late 2004 so-called pro-life “conversion,” but lots of folks don't realize he was also massaging fellow Utah Mormons in 2001 when he wrote a letter-to-the editor that he wasn't really “pro-choice," after all: "I do not wish to be labeled pro-choice." (Mitt Romney, Letter to the Editor, The Salt Lake Tribune, 7/12/01)

Fast-forward then to the 2007 campaign trail. He claimed all of his actions as MA guv were “pro-life” -- yet on April 12, 2006, he signed his "Commonwealth Care" into existence, thereby expanding abortion access/taxpayer funded abortions for women--including almost 2% of the females of his state who earn $75,000 or more. (Wait a minute, I thought he told us post-'06 that ALL of his actions were "pro-life?"). Also, not only this, but as governor, Romney could exercise veto power to portions of Commonwealth Care. Did Romney exercise this power? (Yes, he vetoed Sections 5, 27, 29, 47, 112, 113, 134 & 137). What prominent section dealing with Planned Parenthood as part of the "payment policy advisory board" did Romney choose NOT to veto? (Section 3) That section mandates that one member of MassHealth Payment Policy Board must be appointed by Planned Parenthood League of MA. (See chapter 58 of the Acts of 2006, section 3 for details).

Look at how he tried to manipulate voters just in the first several weeks of his '07 campaign – based upon what he was telling South Carolina voters: On January 29, 2007 during a visit to South Carolina, Romney stated: “Over the last multiple years, as you know, I have been effectively pro-choice." (Bruce Smith, "Romney Campaigns in SC with Sen. DeMint," The Associated Press, 1/29/07) = OK how could "every action I've taken as the governor that relates to the sanctity of human life..." AND this statement BOTH be true?

On another South Carolina campaign stop has Romney uttering that "I was always for life”: "I am firmly pro-life… I was always for life." (Jim Davenport, "Romney Affirms Opposition to Abortion," The Associated Press, 2/9/2007) = Oh, of course as the above shows, he's always been pro-life!

By August '07 he was singing more off-kilter tunes on the trail: "I never said I was pro-choice, but my position was effectively pro-choice." Source: 2007 GOP Iowa Straw Poll debate 8/5/2007 = OK...looking at the 1994 & 2002 campaigns, how could he say he "never said" he was "pro-choice?"

Then comes his two biggest whoppers of all – one being his 8/12/07 interview with Chris Wallace of Fox: "I never called myself pro-choice. I never allowed myself to use the word pro-choice because I didn't FEEL I was pro-choice. I would protect the law, I said, as it was, but I wasn't pro-choice, and so..." = That whatever he was from 1970 when his mom ran as a pro-abortion senator & he sided with her, to 5/27/05, w/whatever interruption he had due to a pro-life altar call in Nov of '04, whatever that was...well, he assures us it wasn't a pro-abortion inlook or outlook 'cause he didn't ”feel...pro-choice..." = So does that make him a life-long pro-lifer?

On embryonic stem cell research, he was for it in a June, '02 speech. He supposedly "converted" to the entire pro-life cause over this issue in Nov of '04.

By Dec of '07 he was telling Katie Couric that he was pro-choice on parents of such embryos exercising either the choice to give up their surplus embryo(s) for adoption, or to "donate" them to "research" (dissection). In that Dec 07 interview with Couric, in two back-to-back sentences, he uses the terms "parent" and "adoption" to apply to embryos – which sounds very “pro-life” and commendable....only in the very next sentence he uses the following terms without seeing any contradiction:
"parent"
"donate"
"research"
He actually said parents of these adoptable embryos who “donated” them to “research” (dissection) was "acceptable."

Would the real Mythster please stand up?

I don’t see what was wrong with that remark Virginia Ridgerunner, Romney was complementing Palin, he said, PALIN was OFFERED 11M, and his reply was that he would have to COME UP WITH 11M.

He deflated himself and elevated Palin so you are all wet!

You don’t think that after a while Romney folks get tired after a while when things are always spinned or taken out of context!

Sorry, didn’t mean to turn the thread from the subject at hand. It’s just I don’t like when our side makes claims that aren’t true, because then it makes us look scarcely better than the opposition. Clearly we have been the Civil Rights party, that’s what our party was founded upon. But based upon research, there was no indication MLK, Jr. was ever a Republican (if he ever was, he ceased to be PRIOR to the 1960 elections). His father was a registered Republican until the mid-point of 1960 and voted Dem in all races that mattered from JFK onward (and was there with Carter 16 years later, which was jaw-dropping considering Carter ran an openly race-baiting campaign for GA Governor as late as 1970 !).

But MLK, Jr. was essentially a big government Socialist and is not someone we ought to be holding up as a saint. He became more radicalized as the 1960s progressed (and he denounced Conservatism, including calling Goldwater a tool of the racists, despite the fact Goldwater was pro-Civil Rights, but not favoring implementing it via a massive big government action). Had he not been assassinated, it’s highly unlikely we’d be holding him up in any higher regard than the likes of Je$$e Jack$on and Al $harpton. I personally see him as a highly flawed individual who stole a lot of the credit that a century of Black (and White) activists had worked hard, and in some cases, given their lives, to achieve. It wasn’t admirable, either, that he essentially plagarized a speech given by a Black Chicago Republican Minister to the GOP National Convention and passed it off as his own.

Rice had also made the same claim in her article that “A. Phillip Randolph” was a Black Republican. That caused my jaw to drop. Randolph was a prominent Socialist Party activist and both he and his wife ran for Congress from NYC as Socialists in the 1910s. Although Randolph later became more “moderate” in his views, he was still a member of the left-wing NY Liberal Party by the 1960s.

Now, Alveda King, who served as a State Representative in GA as a Democrat, HAS since switched parties, and is a high-profile pro-life activist (although is criminally underused by our party).

Anyway, if you’ll do a search for some of the times that article was posted, I offered up a rebuttal and correction (the link you gave me, I did not appear in, but most of the others I did, such as this one: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1919430/posts

...and when it was later reposted:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-gop/1957006/posts

I was rather alarmed when a local Republican (employed by the state party) posted this whole thing as factual and contacted him in private, refuting the claims and he never responded back. Posting claims as such without evidence could cause us enormous embarrassment at a time when we certainly don’t need more of it.

"Therefore, you were not FR active during the primaries last year. I was, and I can tell you that, rather than being the nasty ones, the Romney supporters took the brunt of nasty rude attacks and still do. Posters who are openly Mormon suffer the most vicious attacks."

Whoever YOU are, you are a damnable liar.

"I don't see the point of attacking Romney or his supporters. He had a solid pro-America, pro-military, pro-life, secure borders, financially sound platform that he ran on and if Republicans would have supported him, if Huckabee and Thompson had not come along as spoilers, he had a good chance to win the general and would be far better than what we are up against in this country now."

Your candidate was a flipflopping Socialist fraud and would've been the Republican party's worst nightmare imaginable as President. I thank God we were spared that, and I'm glad I played a role in stopping that abomination. And I'd do it again.

The reality is that no group of freepers is nastier than the pro Romney crowd, and while Romney’s platform for the national race was conservative, it was also brand new and created for the new group of voters.

The Romney family is so anti-American that no Romney man has ever served this nation as a patriot in uniform, Mitt’s father is famously known as the “anti-war” presidential candidate from the sixties that claimed the military “brainwashed” him, a time when a young 17 year old Mitt witnessed his father storming out of the 1964 Republican convention as a protest against Goldwater and the conservative movement and a time when Mitt himself was avoiding the draft living in France, and a time when he claims that he and his family were strongly pro-abortion.

Romney dropped his Republican registration and became an independent in opposition to President Reagan and conservatism and he only gave money to liberal Democrat candidates for years until early 1993 when he registered Republican to run for office, he was still in opposition to Newt Gingrich and the conservative movement and he desired to open the hated military fully to homosexuals.

Until recently Romney was pro amnesty and famously ran a “sanctuary mansion”, over 11 years he was twice exposed in the national press for having in service at his home a company made up almost entirely of illegals ran by a nationalized Colombian legal.

In preparation for the national race Mitt Romney had a startling series of epiphanies and at roughly age sixty became pro-life, anti amnesty, a “life long hunter and a “gun owner”, a life time member of the NRA, he suddenly became a man that “longed to serve in Vietnam”, a lover of Reagan and conservatives, a strong pro military guy, etc, etc, etc.

To this day no one can figure out what he believes in or what he wants, he won one election during all these years and he couldn’t win reelection to that office, he is something of a political loser but an effective spoiler.

These Slick Willard knuckledraggers are a real stitch. How many times these vile cretins viciously attacked people that stood up to their lies and revisionist history regarding their idol. The names and slander I’ve been called by them over the past three years was beyond disgusting. I and another member were called homosexual child molestors for opposing Slick Willard, as well as “pornographers”, “serial spouse cheaters” (amazing, since I’m not married), and “chronic Mormon bashers” (for which they couldn’t present a shred of evidence). These PAID agents and delusional sycophants are beyond despicable, and then they have the nerve to act like THEY are the aggrieved party, these poor little souls being crucified for their beliefs. What a bunch of drama queens.

Posters who are openly Mormon suffer the most vicious attacks.

I dare you to read this entire thread or any thread I've posted on and find ONE negative thing I've ever said about Mormonism or Mormons.

My lack of appreciation for Mitt Romney has NOTHING to do with him being a Mormon, and for you to suggest otherwise is ludicrous.

Your argument is no different than 0bama supporters telling me that I'm a racist because I didn't vote for him because he's black. And like Barack Obama, I don't support Mitt Romney because I don't like his POLITICS.

Lastly, you do your cause no good with your slinging accusations. Even if I did have a teaspoon of support for Mitt Romney in me, you just took it.

As for why you've never seen me on Free Republic before, I can't help you there. I'm actively here every day and hang with the Georgia FReeper Posse.

According to what Orrin Hatchling has said in the past, it is likely that Mormonism (thus Mitt’s position) doesn’t acknowledge the embryo to be a human until it is found inside a woman’s body ... petri dish conception isn’t human conception until the ‘thing’ magically transforms into a human when placed in a human female’s body.

You’re familiar with ‘playing the race card’ no doubt; the plea to ‘against Mitt because he is a Mormon’ card is similar for Mittiacs like restornu, TAdams8591, GOP_Lady, redgirlinabluestate, La Enchiladita and several others. And it isn’t a Mormon-only plea, as TAdams8591 claims to be Catholic.

This is obviously pro-Mitt astro-turfing. I'm sick of their slanderous accusations. I will remember every single one of their FReeper names and call them out for their despicable behavior. As a matter of fact, I might just start a rule that every time I see them pull their nonsense on FR, I donate $5 to another GOP POTUS candidate's PAC, write a letter to CPAC asking them not to include Mitt on the program in 2010, or write a letter to the editor of my local newspaper bringing to light the socialist record of Mitt Romney.

I have similar rules for other nonsensical behavior, why not add this to it.

Your statement is not truthful.

The ONLY attacks have been against FReepers
who did not fall on their knees for carpetbagger,
backstabber Romney.

The ONLY attacks were by RomneyBOTs who dared called
those critical of Romney’s stupidities ‘antiMormon’,
and the RomneyBOTs who attacked (and still do)
Gov. Palin and her children.
