The World Health Organisation tonight raised the pandemic alert level to five out of six after the continued spread of swine flu world wide.
Margaret Chan, the organisation's director-general, said tonight: "I have decided to raise the current level of influenza pandemic alert from phase 4 to phase 5.
"Influenza pandemics must be taken seriously precisely because of their capacity to spread rapidly to every country in the world."
Making a call to governments, she said: "This change to a higher phase of alert is a signal to governments, to ministries of health and other industries, to the pharmaceutical industry and business industry that certain actions must be undertaken now with increased urgency and at an accelerated pace."

I will say it again. A pandemic is not defined by the number of deaths but by the spread of illness.
Yep!
I think so.....
They will only close the borders as a means to keep us from escaping after they’ve FUBAR’ed everything.
That’s nothing.
I’m wearing a full-body condom.... I am INVINCIBLE.
This is such crap.
Well I see the Egyptians Muslims aren’t wasting a crisis. They’re using swing flu as an excuse to kill off all of the Christians swine livestock.
LOL.
This outbreak just started. Incubation period has to resonate with travel of those infected & contagious but not yet symptomatic, which runs a couple weeks. Apparently flu strains have to cycle thru the population twice before REALLY causing damage.
The real squaring point this early on is the victims are mostly healthy youth - not weak-immune-system children and elderly as is the usual body count. Apparently this one’s main mechanism involves turning one’s immune system against the body, meaning robust immune systems strike hard while weak ones don’t.
Wait 6 months, THEN compare victim counts. ...if you’re still around.
(It's funny. Laugh.)
They all would do better to just pass out Vitamin C on street corners, and rent a HOTEL, where they can quarantine people, and not mixed the Mexican Swine Flu people with those with gall bladder stones and getting a heart by pass. It’s way past trying to corner this critter, might as well all get exposed to it and get over it. We’ve had many neighbors here in Mexico that sailed through it like it was a severe cold. COME ON. I dare someone needs to threaten a lawsuit to the folks at WHO...
The more the LIBERAL MEDIA drums this up the LESS IMPORTANT it most likely is.
What I wonder ... is what are they DISTRACTING US FROM?
They always need a “crisis” to sneak things through.
What are they SNEAKING through this time?
Hmmmmm?
Of course securing our borders in NOT A CONCERN.
We don’t want MEXICO, home of the SWINE FLU, to interfere with their economic situation ... .
How about this: A tree can make a million matches and one match can burn a million trees.
One little “match” can spread a lot of destruction.
Put out the single match before it spreads.
I'm sure there were plenty of folks returning to the USA from Mexico....every day of every year...who had the so called flu.
We went to Mexico in the early 70's...I was sicker than hell for 6 weeks after we got home.
The bottom line in all this will be Univeral Health Care...Line up..take your shots...cover your mouth...sit in your corner....and DIE!!!
I hope not.I may be dead.
We've moved on from a “chicken in every pot” to a house for all who can't afford one to possible a HUGE BAILOUT for the impoverished that simply can't afford health care. Neurally the Pharm. companies WELCOME a chance to make some money with government required shots. Pharm. companies might need a few trillion to make these "emergency" vaccines.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.Wonder what’s in store for us.
