Congressman calls for Mexican border to be closed

The "swine flu" that has infected more than 1,000 people in Mexico has led a lawmaker on the House Homeland Security Committee to call on U.S. officials to close the southern border.

Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) said the border should be closed until the threat is resolved.

"The public needs to be aware of the serious threat of swine flu, and we need to close our borders to Mexico immediately and completely until this is resolved," Massa said in a statement.

"I am making this announcement because I see this as a serious threat to the health of the American public and I do not believe this issue is receiving the attention it needs to have in the news," Massa said.

I think it’s great that he is calling for closing the border. It will do nothing but put more pressure on “the idiot with big ears”.

The border should have been closed days ago. Obama’s incompetence is astounding. This is both a health and a national security threat.

Think of all the money that could be saved with National Health Care if a large portion of America’s population died from this epidemic/pandemic!! Wow, the savings could be used in more efficient ways then for those who survive!! Golly gee!

What is the discussion? The Federal Government is responsible for the borders. The border should never have been open in the first place.

Get the damned thing closed up, and the laws enforced, and don’t let it happen again is the attitude we the people need to project to the Government that is supposed to be working for us.

nah, barak will have all mexicans moved here. If they’re in USA, they won’t get the flu in mexico. So far the USA flu is not as deadly as the mexican one thus closing the border will happen when all have immigrated here.

Massa may be a Dem that actually has some brains. He knows that if this flu spreads because of illegals coming to this country, it will likely mean the end of the Democrat party should they proceed with their plans to naturalize millions of illegals. They will not be able to spin their way out of the responsibility for this mess. Of course, they might be screwed, anyway, but I don't have a problem with that.
