In a discussion this morning with a cell biologist and medical doctor working at Johns Hopkins, my friend thought this 4-part flu combination is highly unusual and looks like it could be man-made. Especially because it has an avian strain. My doctor friend (he's Taiwanese) explained that in Asia, it's common for a avian-swine-human flu to happen naturally, but this virus first showed up in Mexico, where pigs and ducks are not usually raised together. Also, recombination of more than 2-different flu viruses is extremely rare. I'm just repeating what he said as an expert in the field. He says the CDC needs to explain if there is a possibility that we are under a bio-weapon attack.
From CDC via Wikipedia: Anne Schuchat, director of CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said that the American cases were found to be made up of genetic elements from four different flu viruses -- North American swine influenza, North American avian influenza, human influenza A virus subtype H1N1, and swine influenza virus typically found in Asia and Europe. For two cases a complete genome sequence had been obtained. She said that the virus was resistant to amantadine and rimantadine, but susceptible to oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza).[22][23][24] Preliminary genetic characterization found that the hemagglutinin (HA) gene was similar to that of swine flu viruses present in U.S. pigs since 1999, but the neuraminidase (NA) and matrix protein (M) genes resembled versions present in European swine flu isolates. Viruses with this genetic makeup had not previously been found to be circulating in humans or pigs, but there is no formal national surveillance system to determine what viruses are circulating in pigs in the U.S.[25] The seasonal influenza strain H1N1 vaccine is thought to be unlikely to provide protection.[26]
Also, the pharmas sell the drugs to governments which build up the stockpiles. The companies don’t have a lot of unsold inventory sitting around, they produce it as ordered.
IT will further kill the economy as people huddle in their homes afraid to go out. The market for surgical masks will explode, though I’ve been thinking it would be smart for we in the US to be making more liberal use of them anyway. If you’re well, keeps you that way. If you’re sick, protects everybody else. Dispose of properly.
Sorry, the Crichton book was called Congo.
Suppressed immune system is protective from quick death in flue. But not later.
We have a tradition of treating the weakest people for these things. But the high mortality with this wiill be in young people, not the old and babies.
If you research it, there are programs for stockpiling millions of doses
I’d like to add The Last Centurion by John Ringo. Rough language and written in a sort of bloggish style that’s a little hard to get used to.
It has the world hit with a super bird flu with 60% of population mortality. US does better, at 35%.
This is combined with the start of an ice age and a Hilary like president who doesn’t want to “waste a good crisis,” so sets about comprehensively wrecking US agriculture and economy.
Creepily predictive of a lot of what Obama has been doing in the economy.
I agree with what he said.
It is paranoid to accuse a major drug company of causing a disease to reap millions off tamiflu.
It is unbelievable that you would think that,,and very much like somebody on DU who rails against the very companies that make our health care the best in the world.
if this is orchetsrated then they picked the perfect clueless naive partisan adminstration to blindside
zerO can’t give a 3 minute speech without his TOTUS
he’s got Axelrod and 20-somethings writing those speeches
remmember we ghav epiut the ocun try in the hands of people who hate it. People who call ruinous porkula deficits “investments”
people who never ran a lemonade stand who think they should take over the helathcare system, banks and auto companies
people who change the name of a war to a “challenge” to avoid upsetting the enemy. people who think in the midst of a war/”challenge”, that releasing inflammatory pictures and reports about US treatment of captured terrorists will make us stronger against the muslim street
people who think pro lifers, war veterans, federalists and limited-govt advocates are their worst enemies

Well this world is not what it used to be. Explain the Georgia Guidestones to me and how in the heck they’re allowed to be in the USA?
What do YOU do for a living, and how do you scam and cheat and harm people in order to increase your profits, eh? Because since you are so quick to assume this in other people, it must be because it is what you would do yourself.
You are a creep and a fraud and project your own ugly evil intentions on others. You reveal yourself, you creep.
Sort of like those drug commericals; Possible side effects include, nasuea, dry mouth, loss of apetite, insomnia, seziures, coma, and death.
Immune suppression may be protective from H5N1 bird flu... but this is a diabolical never-before seen combination of swine and human viruses. Mexico 2009 flu could be a “perfect storm” of viruses combined
Actually my interest in researching all this came about after 3 people in my immediate family died shortly after receiving flu shots.
YOU explain the Geogia Guidestones, or at least tell people what it is. You want to make an argument, YOU do the work — dont’ expect others to do it for you. You phony, lazy, faux-”conservative” jackass.
Then write it up and make a decent argument, you lazy jerk.
It’s okay, I’m sorry, what was I thinking, big pharma loves you
Yes indeed the kids from Queens were in Mexico:

18 cases in Canada?
“WHO further said Canadian labs had confirmed 18 cases as swine flu, 12 of which were genetically identical to ones in the United States.”
