In a discussion this morning with a cell biologist and medical doctor working at Johns Hopkins, my friend thought this 4-part flu combination is highly unusual and looks like it could be man-made. Especially because it has an avian strain. My doctor friend (he's Taiwanese) explained that in Asia, it's common for a avian-swine-human flu to happen naturally, but this virus first showed up in Mexico, where pigs and ducks are not usually raised together. Also, recombination of more than 2-different flu viruses is extremely rare. I'm just repeating what he said as an expert in the field. He says the CDC needs to explain if there is a possibility that we are under a bio-weapon attack.
From CDC via Wikipedia: Anne Schuchat, director of CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said that the American cases were found to be made up of genetic elements from four different flu viruses -- North American swine influenza, North American avian influenza, human influenza A virus subtype H1N1, and swine influenza virus typically found in Asia and Europe. For two cases a complete genome sequence had been obtained. She said that the virus was resistant to amantadine and rimantadine, but susceptible to oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza).[22][23][24] Preliminary genetic characterization found that the hemagglutinin (HA) gene was similar to that of swine flu viruses present in U.S. pigs since 1999, but the neuraminidase (NA) and matrix protein (M) genes resembled versions present in European swine flu isolates. Viruses with this genetic makeup had not previously been found to be circulating in humans or pigs, but there is no formal national surveillance system to determine what viruses are circulating in pigs in the U.S.[25] The seasonal influenza strain H1N1 vaccine is thought to be unlikely to provide protection.[26]
bump to myself
My friend ate some pork sausage yesterday and in a couple of hours broke into a cold sweat and started feeling sick. I almost said the brand name, but thought I’d better not.
Just exercising their Second Amendment rights.
I work as a resident doctor in one of the biggest hospitals in Mexico City and sadly, the situation is far from “under control”. As a doctor, I realise that the media does not report the truth. Authorities distributed vaccines among all the medical personnel with no results, because two of my partners who worked in this hospital (interns) were killed by this new virus in less than six days even though they were vaccinated as all of us were. The official number of deaths is 20, nevertheless, the true number of victims are more than 200. I understand that we must avoid to panic, but telling the truth it might be better now to prevent and avoid more deaths.

Lets just use pitchforks for this one!
unless you were targeting it at a bunch of third worlders who wouldn’t have access to it. And how much tamiflu do we have on hand? It’s the virulence that has me a bit concerned.
Interesting thing is that immunosuppressed people don’t get the cytokine storms that kill you so fast with flu,,I am immunosuppressed so it would kill me slower,,Heh heh. And Aids people are immunosuppressed so probably wouldn’t get those storms either.
Your own immune response is a killer or at least in the 1918 epidemic where people died in a day. Now some died later of pneumonia and complications after weeks sometimes. And they relapsed.
I hate the flu.
The coworker should probably go get checked out, given the circumstances.
I hope she's not planning to rent in MY neighborhood!!!
and among the least effectively treated by it
same with transplant patients, cancer sufferers, anyone with suppressed immune system
imagine healthy people dying while the govt orders rationed meds to be given to unlikely survivors in the name of PC
it’s a nightmare
I just ordered a batch of vitamins and herbals (Vit D, resveratrol, curcumin, etc) based on quick research and hope I can turn my home into a 6 month quarantine zone if required
Dang,,excellent post and I hadn’t thought of that. Our case load is way too low to know the mortality.
A mortality of 6 percent is damned high.
Wonder if they tested O for the virus,,wonder if he was exposed on purpose. Hah!
Excuse me, but that's a load of liberal-think horsesh*t and I don't consider people who assume this kind of wickedness in "big bad greedy business people" as my "conservative" fellows in ANY WAY. Do you know any of these people in pharmaceuticals? Do you know their families, have you ever spoken with them, and is it what YOU would do if YOU were the person "in power" at a pharmaceutical company? Where the hell do YOU get off accusing these people of mass murder for profit? You are a creepy son of a bitch is what you are.
Take your ugly way of thinking and GO AWAY from calling yourself anything close to "conservative," you dope.
ROFL ;) Well done!
You sell pharmaceuticals dont you, lol
OK, read the book The Stand by Steven King, or Outbreak by Michael Crichton, or The Andromeda Strain by Crichton, for that matter. All very good reads and will give you a good layman’s education as to what viruses are and can do.
“they would not have spent the time to make something that is treatable by tamaflu”
...unless they and their people had tamaflu stockpiled and ready...
any comments yet from our own TOTUS zerO?
His CDC director sounds like chicken little.
If it is bad, watch for San Fran Nan to order the air force to evacuate her and her extended family
And there are lots of other people out there with her skills. Not all of them are immune to money, threats or ideological conviction.
One of the listed side-effects of Tamiflu is "suicide." Not depression or negative thoughts or lack of energy.
"Suicide."
