Pelosi: I didn't know about waterboarding
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is pushing back on GOP charges that she knew about waterboarding for years and did nothing.
Pelosi says she was briefed by Bush administration officials on the legal justification for using waterboarding — but that they never followed through on promises to inform her when they actually began using "enhanced" interrogation techniques
"In that or any other briefing…we were not, and I repeat, we're not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation techniques were used. What they did tell us is that they had some legislative counsel ... opinions that they could be used," she told reporters today.
Earlier, House Minority Leader John Boehner (D-Ohio) criticized Pelosi and other Democratic leaders for backing probes into the use of waterboarding — after failing to raise objections during briefings on its potential use.
"Well, yesterday I saw a partial list of the number of members of the House and Senate, Democrats and Republicans, who were briefed on these interrogation methods and not a word was raised at the time, not one word," Boehner told reporters at his weekly news availability.
"And I think you're going to hear more and more about the bigger picture here, that what — the war on terror after 9/11 was done in a bipartisan basis on lots of fronts. And that bigger story will be coming out," he added.
Pelosi says members who receive classified intelligence briefings are powerless to act on them — or even discuss them with staff.
As a consequence, some members simply skip the meetings, so they aren't "hamstrung" by confidentiality requirements.

Also looks like she’s playing the “just because we gave authorization doesn’t mean we said it was okay and we thought Bush was actually going to do it” ploy that they used after we attacked Iraq...with their authorization.

This has all the makings of the onset of political war. Needless to say, plenty of GOPers will be caught up in this, but if we can shed the light on the extent to which the Democratic Party is trying to strip America of it’s safety, well, then it might be worth it.

It took her a while to come up with this one. Everyday the dems must get together and decide how they are going to lie about any given situation that comes up.
If she is telling the truth she needs to request a release of all the records! She won’t because she is lying!

This is the Pelosi and House version of the Senate’s “well, yeah, we voted to allow him to use force in Iraq but, wah wah wah, we never, uh, thought he’d DO it!”
Pelousy is a fool. My first question would be “please produce a copy of the letter/email you immediately sent to the White House advising them that you are adamantly opposed to enhanced interrogation techniques.”
Oh - and did you tell the military to stop using these same techniques in the training of some of our military units? Yeah. I thought not.

Yall have to understand that Nancy Pelosi is so stupid that if she underwent a waterboarding session she would be convinced it was a new type of spa treatment. This woman is seriously challenged.

As Speaker of the House, a person who gets top level briefings constantly, she would have us believe she knew nothing more about water boarding at Gitmo, than Peewee Herman.
This being the case, it’s difficult to judge who got the worst end of this insult.
Was it us, for her thinking we were stupid enough to believe it?

Sounds to me like we’re about to see a power struggle between the democrats in a bid to unseat Pelosi and some of the others who apparently knew about the waterboarding and are now trying to weasel out of what they knew.
