BAGHDAD - The suspected leader of an al-Qaida-linked militant network was captured Thursday by Iraqi military forces.

Abu Omar al-Baghdadi has been a key target for U.S. and Iraqi forces for years as the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella group of Sunni militant factions that is believed dominated by al-Qaida in Iraq.

Here’s hoping Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri is found before he dies of natural causes.

He was the new Baath Party leader after Saddam checked out.

It is a little hazy, supposedly we captured this guy once before and killed him twice already.

I think his real name is Hamid Dawood Muhammad Khalil al-Zawi, from Haditha, and was an officer in the Amn al-'Aameh [General Security Directorate] under Saddam.

Being a Baathist he would have much insight and access to Saddam's entire network and would allow himself to operate in such a shadowy manner.

That is correct. In fact our military has not given any real importance to this guy as he is just a speech reader for Al Qaeda. The real Al Qaeda leader in Iraq is called "Abou Hamza Al Mouhajer" who give himself the title "the minister of war in the islamic state of Iraq".

The terrorist attacks in Iraq have risen a lot in the last two months and today, as mentioned in this article, there were two big suicide terrorist attacks that killed and injured dozens of people.

The terrorists in Iraq have been greatly emboldened by Obama extreme weakness. We cannot leave Iraq as Obama planned. If we do then Iraq will fall under the terrorist control of Al Qaeda and Iran, shortly afterward the whole Middle East will be under the terrorist control and then we are going to have a catastrophe worse than any nightmare we can ever imagine.

Abu Hamza al-Muhajir (al-Muhajir means “the migrant”) AKA Abu Ayyub al-Masri is a veteran Egyptian militant named leader of AQ, June, 2006. I have always felt that the AQ Shura Council had to be coordinated by an Iraqi with deep former Baathist contacts in order to be so effective.

Obama needs to apologize in advance for his incarceration, throw in a bow for good measure.

I’m sure Obama gave the order to capture the guy, but I also hear Obama is a bit upset because they didn’t read the terrorist his miranda rights. Obama believes the case against the perp is tainted now and wants to let him go.

Good, now drag his body through the streets, cut his head off, burn him, and hang the body in the streets.

Since I'm sure he had something to do with the American Blackwater firm contractors receiving such treatment on Falluja bridge... YES, this would be an acceptable "eye for an eye" punishment in the Muslim world.

Yeah, he could be dead, adult leukemia is nasty stuff, or he could be living in Iran or Syria is my suspicion, if not.
