With this phantom legislation enroute to the hopper (instead of the waste can) coupled with Pelosi's legislation to tax our already depleted 401Ks, we're in deep trouble.

Should be noted (as always) that the company that owns the patent on this technology is the primary customer of the law firm that authored the legislation in the States.

What better way to sell a product that nobody wants by passing a law requiring that product.

Can you say conflict of interest? I knew you could.

Good luck trying to enforce destroying all that ammo.
Better build another five thousand prisons. For starters.

This news should keep the ammo shelves empty at gun stores nationwide.

Support your right to keep and bear arms: buy a gun and more ammo today!

{The government SHOULD be afraid of us stockpiling... only if it intends to do something blatantly unlawful.}

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011

Good luck with that.

This appears to be from last year, it was introduced in the states listed, and died an all states, Nothing was mentioned about that.

Is this a notification that it was reintroduced in all those states, or is it recycled old news?

I guess this could mean that I need to include not only my Redskin season tickets...but many, many, many cases of ammo in my Will as well?

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.

If the government is going to make us destroy something that we legally purchased, then it will have to pay just compensation for the de facto taking of private property. Given the cost of ammo and the likely increase in the cost of ammo as a result of this legislation, most of these states will not be able to afford to pay us fair market value.

Umm, I used all my ammo at target practice. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I don't think they'd like my definition of 'destroyed'.....more like 'used'......

If each box has a unique code, they will need at least an 11 digit code with letters and numbers in it, given the amount of ammo sold commercially in the USA. Imagine how many 50 rd boxes of .22 get sold every year.

Assuming that the sales keep up with historical levels, of course.

Along with the code comes ammo registration, so if the police find a slug at a crime scene that has part of your code on it, you will be hauled in for questioning while your home is searched for all ammo, and your guns temporarily borrowed for ballistics testing, fingerprinting, serial number check for registration, and DNA profiling.

I’d expect a civil suit from an aggrieved family (helped by a nonprofit grief counseling organization) since you are responsible (it is your bullet after all).

Rhode Island’s Governor,Don Carcieri will not sign any anti-firearms bills, and there are enough pro gun legislators to kill any such attempt.Believe it or not, maany of the staunchest supporters of gun rights here are Democrats.
Our federal delegation are anti-gun leftist scum, one and all.

Okay, sanity check.

The House Bill for Maryland (for example) that was cited by the link was for LAST YEARS SESSION and is dead.

2008 Regular Session bill information current as of November 23, 2008 - 0:19 a.m.

Please make sure the information you provide is at least ACCURATE.

While this in no way should say they won't try something like this in the future, it's stuff like this that makes me think that our own 2nd Amendment brothers are simply stirring the pot in order to make gun/ammo sales.
