'Ammunition Accountability' Legislation. (No ammo sales after 6/30/2009)
email | 4/20/2009

Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009.

It has already started: 'Ammunition Accountability' Legislation.

Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacturer, a data base of all ammunition sales. So, they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a 05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun! This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

Inform your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!

To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

Blackriverrat myself. First "residential district" area North of Hillard bridge. Not as nice as Current but much less traffic.

I'll bet that a lot gets turned in, and very quickly - but not necessarily in the manner that the sponsors and supporters of this bill are contemplating. Me, I have a suspicion that lots will get turned in at speeds from 850 FPS all the way up to 3,300 or so FPS.

“Better build another five thousand prisons. For starters.”

Hope the light bulb is starting to come on for those who did not understand Obama’s campaign statement “we can't count on the military, we need to build a Civilian Defense Corp just as big and just as strong as our military”. Also, hope everyone is now beginning to understand Secretary Napolitano’s report and comments about vet's. She is lead off batter for the Obama mind shaping game...

If the government is going to make us destroy something that we legally purchased, then it will have to pay just compensation for the de facto taking of private property. Given the cost of ammo and the likely increase in the cost of ammo as a result of this legislation, most of these states will not be able to afford to pay us fair market value.

I'm not selling, I'm not destroying. Condemnation is only for public use - and notwithstanding that Kelo abomination, there is ZERO public use connected with the seizure of my legally acquired and used property.

Come and take it, mf'ers.

Man .380 must be the worst. I like Sportsman’s guide because they usually list the inventory online. The earlies t is Jul 6, 2009 backordered. 9 mm had some in stock.

Ammoman out of stock on .380 too. Cheaper Than Dirt - out of stock on .380. CTD has 9 mm in the more expensive stuff.

Any other suggestions here folks?

This is good new.

Finally wars will be ended and crime will be ended as all the armies of the world are stopped from purchasing ammunition and the police and criminals are no longer sold ammo preventing innocent citizens from being killed from no-knock raids and home invasions.

Now, now. Let's not be so negative. Banning drugs has worked so well. The war on drugs can serve as an excellent guide for the war on guns.

I agree. They will have an awful time banning lead and lead alloys, what with 100+ years of production in large volumes, and the making of brass cases (aside from the billions and billions out there) would be a cinch for many machinists. Casting is an old and oft-used skill, and with the price of ammo skyrocketing as it has in the last year or so, many more people are getting into it. Primers - ditto, though they'd likely be simpler than what is currently manufactured by the billions each year. Powder - same.

Besides, as an acquaintance of mine once said, "why worry about what is or isn't in the store, when the morons are going to bring the store to you?"

Hopefully black market ammo will be cheaper than it is now.

I see this as an awesome opportunity since it only affects criminals. According to the website it states. ...”when a potential criminal purchases a box of 9mm cartridges”. Does this mean it only this affects only 9mm ammo so it’s not an issue? (sarcasm)

My recommendation would be to enact legislation where all criminals must have a Federal ID that states they are a criminal and that they must present the ID to any intended victim prior to committing a crime.

The Federal Criminal ID Card must also be used by the criminal when they legally purchase ammunition and when they legally buy a gun.

If a non-legal gun or non-legal ammunition is used in a crime the criminal must leave a copy of his Federal ID at the scene of any crime to ensure they receive the credit for the crime committed.

Makes sense to me.... (more sarcasm)

Actually the War on Drugs and the War on Guns have been in a symbiotic relationship for a long time.

...2nd Amendment brothers are simply stirring the pot in order to make gun/ammo sales.

Owning no Ruger or Colt stock myself, I see pot stirring to agitate stronger support for the Second Amendment to be admirable these dark days.

They tracked ammunition sales in the late 60s and into the 70s. The database proved to be useless for selecting possible criminal acts. It was abandon.

I guess the idiots in office are too young to remember that, or are just the usual leftists who refuse to make use of information that goes contrary to their "enlightened" decisions.

If each box has a unique code, they will need at least an 11 digit code with letters and numbers in it, given the amount of ammo sold commercially in the USA. Imagine how many 50 rd boxes of .22 get sold every year.

What if I swap you half a box of mine for a half box of yours and we mix them ????? Anyone else in on this deal ????????????
