I think the whole Civil War History and brainwashing about "it was all about slavery" needs to be revisited. The whole states rights issue gets buried when the bloody shirt of slavery is waved. We could learn a lot from history if it is evaluated from all sides, not just from the Federalist "winning" side. The Republic died in that conflict, you might want to learn the real story as it is very relevant to today.

You sent tingles up my leg thinking secession was in the works.

I think people who keep introducing these Civil War revisited threads are liberals who are trying to split the conservative movement into northern and southern warring factions.

Not to mention all the adoration heaped upon Lincoln, who flat out said multiple times he was driven by an urge to preserve the Union, NOT to end slavery.

I remember a discussion on FR a while ago about whose side God was on in the Civil War...it was determined that He was on for the Union. I wonder if God would still be on the Union side if there was another civil war?

On this very same day in 1861,
The New York Evening Day Book stated that the event at Fort Sumter was:
a cunningly devised scheme contrived to arouse, and, if possible, exasperate the northern people against the South.
