Acknowledging that an apology is owed, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano promised Thursday to meet and clear the air with veterans groups that were offended by her agencys report citing returning veterans as terrorist risks to the U.S.
To the extent veterans read it as an accusation, Napolitano told FOX News, an apology is owed.
Ill meet with the leaders of some of the veterans groups, she promised on FOX & Friends. The last thing we want to do is offend or castigate all veterans. To the contrary, lets meet and clear the air.
Napolitano said she was briefed on the report, including the warning about returning veterans, before it was released.
--snip--
I have to tell you, I was the United States Attorney for Arizona in the 90s when Tim McVeigh bombed the Murrow building in Oklahoma City and unfortunately he was a vet thats where he got his training, she said. And so when I was told about the report, it rang true with me. This has happened in the past.

What a silly thing for her to say. For every veteran like the evil Timothy McVeigh there is a veteran like the heroic Rick Rescorla.
You've got the ratio entirely wrong. For every veteran like McVeigh, there are 1,000 like Rick Rescorla.

“The warning, which was contained in a footnote to the report, also singled out opponents to abortion or immigration as ripe for recruitment by rightwing extremists.”
Recall that the Lez-Bee-On’s polecat minions immediately sprayed the following message,
“The last thing we would is go after people for their political or ideological beliefs ... “.
So I suppose the *first* thing the Dept. of Motherland Security will do is pester, monitor/surveill, harass wounded troopers.
Not while I’m above ground!

"Timothy McVeigh learned how to make fertilizer bombs in the infantry? Huh?!"
You are correct in your observation, 2ndDivisionVet. Hillary's politicians and journalists even tried to attribute McVeigh's knowledge of his improvised device to "crosstraining," but that was not true, either.
As for engineers (Bravo type--not construction), they can't find a poster boy mad bomber among us because of certain screening techniques in training (ouch!) and rather extensive and expensive background checks. As a drill sergeant once put it, "We're checkin' your heads to make sure they're screwed on right!"
I once received quite a few telephone requests from an anonymous woman for "mines" and "bombs." I rejected her requests, of course. She was a rather manly-acting local cop in a corrupt agency. A few months later, she shot herself on a road very close to my house and claimed that a "male" did it during a car stop. But I had already talked to the feds, and there were a few good ones in the Justice Dept. (and near me), even then. And there were a few legit friends here and there in local uniforms (as I had worn one of those, too, before snitching on the powers that were).

Horse feces ... any apology would be insincere. The mindset is firmly entrenched at DHS. I hope the groups don’t fall for it and accept such a lame apology.

The vast majority of the 19 hijackers were Saudis, are the Fed's issuing a BOLO for Saudi nationals?
Nope, that would be racist. But discriminating against the Military that is just peachy keen.
And what Military Training did McVeigh actually use? I don't recall their being a fertilizer bomb class in basic or in any of the M.O.S. schools for that matter.
The dude was a total f*ck up in the Military and now the left wants to make it sound like he was some kind of commando? Give me a break!
For every one soldier that might end up in a militia or in a gang there are dozens of islamic school graduates that end up becoming terrorists. Why don't we look for them?

Anyone, that’s ANYONE, that would accept an apology from this disingenuous mouth piece for Obama, is a complete fool.
Obama should have already fired her, she is in way over her head.
She should have resigned, she owns every word in those 9 pages of politically targeted and hateful incompetence.
Her document intended to focus EVERY law enforcement agency within our country on innocent people for political reasons. This is a complete disregard for the Constitution and misuse and abuse of authority.
Her regret is as sincere as that given of a common criminal, she regrets she has been caught....... and that anyone was paying attention.
She has failed the American people and she needs to go, period.

She didn’t apologize. She just said one was owed. By who?
She probably thinks we “rightwing extremists” should apologize for opposing O-bozo and his plans.

They are an Government Agency like any other so of course they are.
I have not been able to wrap my head around why we have a department of homeland security to begin with. Isn’t that what the Department of Defense is supposed to be for?

She prosecuted and persecuted a great governor here at Clinton’s behest. Then she stole an election Franken style. She even goes back to the attempted lynching of Clarence Thomas. If you ever wanted to see an inbred rat in human form, look at Janet.

This woman is total weenie! My hubby is a retired Marine, and we are both pro-life, and pro-gun rights. I guess that makes us number one on the Napolitano list.
