WASHINGTON (AP) - Republicans on Wednesday said a Homeland Security Department intelligence assessment unfairly characterizes military veterans as right-wing extremists. House Republican leader John Boehner described the report as offensive and called on the agency to apologize to veterans.
The assessment also said that returning military veterans who have difficulties assimilating back into their home communities could be susceptible to extremist recruiters or might engage in lone acts of violence.

I wonder if that also means black veterans?
THIS IS SOOOOO WRONG. WE NEED TO START A PETITION IMMEDIATELY AND ASK FOR A RESCENDING OF THIS STATEMENT AND THE JOB OF dhS......THEY NEED TO APOLOGIZE TO OUR VETS!!!!
YESTERDAY.
“Let me be very clear we monitor the risks of violent extremism taking root here in the United States,” Napolitano said in a statement.
Just not Enviroextremists, leftist anarchists, former Weathermen, and various fascists now in elected office.
Interesting addition you made to the title.
I'm sure you felt it was necessary for people to get the point.
Too bad about the accidental blunting of the impact, though.
John Allen Williams Muhammad, the DC Sniper?
The Department of Homeland Insecurity has gone from fighting Islamofascists to fighting right-wingers. It should be abolished.
The “average” guy is now a raving leftwing lunatic. So yes, if you’re not a raving leftwing lunatic, then you are now an extremist.
She has heaped calumny on a class of persons (veterans).
She has most likely violated the various veterans readjustment acts as well.
America simply can't have such a treacherous person at the top of such a critical job.
I left a naughty message on the DHS “suggestion” line today. I’ll have cookies and milk waiting for when the goons show up.
I know about him and many others, I served with a power figure of the black panthers and several black muslims but I wonder if the government meant to include black veterans in this.
It states that there were several reports issued from Sept. 2008 through Feb. 5th 2009. So the Bush administration was doing these reports also. Interesting that it said the most recent had the comments about vets returning from war but didn’t say which reports contained the comments about third party voters. Bush did, after all, call the Minute Men vigilantes. Methinks this is way bigger than one administration. After all, don’t the comments about third party voters and people who distrust the feral government benefit the repugnicans, also?

I wonder what it would be called if our soldiers actually were active, forceful, and daresay belligerent in their oath to defend the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic... Oh, right, “extremest.” [/sickening]
Apologize?? Who gives a crap about an apology?? Which would be worthless anyway.
Sorry John, but your response is chicken sh*t. You should have called for a full investigation of the entire document. You should have called it what it is, groundwork for going after all citizens that object to current policy.
This document is a trial balloon of a sort. BO figures that if this "report" doesn't spark full scale revolt in congress, he can incrementally escalate it into a later suspension of habeas corpus and get some us off the street.
Bank on it folks. Everything is a test with these people. A tepid response is an invitation for them to go for the jugular.
To anyone that thinks I am overstating this, I'll be sure to wave at you as you are escorted to the paddy wagon.
Does anyone still think that DHS was a good idea?
How about the slimy ass lie the MSM are telling now, about how the Gestapo Dems “never mentioned Conservatives”...
No, they just describe the main tenets and issues of Conservatives, and then say that they are indicators of “Right Wing Radicals and domestic terrorists”.
The way the “report” states it’s non existant “facts”..the report can be broadly interpreted as reason to suspect *anyone* who holdw views to the right of Paul Begala.
This gives license to investigate and interrogate anyone for any whim that a homeland Security apparatcjhik wants, from “looking suspicios” to not adding enough dill pickles with his sandwich.
Tyranny whispers from this “document”. This is no “harmless” memo being overreacted to.
