You can put the Texas flag on your about page, you know.
Why are you so sure Texas won't secede?

Regardless of the actual possibility of a secession, every GOP governor should make an identical public statement.
It's time to push back against the oscumbo propaganda machine.
Rattle their cages!

Wouldn’t you accept my FReeper ID card and give me refugee status? Pretty Please.

Okay, we’ll let freepers in. We’ll need help in the blue counties.

Regardless of the actual possibility of a secession, every GOP governor should make an identical public statement. Can't argue with that. IMHO and FWIW, I believe Gov Perry gave a good deal of thought to how he would broach the subject. Texas being in a "unique" position within the States' hierarchy, I suspect he realized whatever he did or said about the 10th Amendment and other "sovereignty" initiatives could set the tone for what is to follow. I DON'T see it as political grandstanding as some have implied since a strong position on this issue could cut both ways. I think he really wanted to be able to put Texas in a position to run "interference" for other States wanting to join the fray but lack the resources Texas has. Sort of like a big brother, if you will.
All of which raises an interesting what if question; that is, what if a goodly number of governors, Pubbie or otherwise, could be brought together and issue an open letter or joint proclamation to DC telling them to back off? Would a joint proclamation of, say, 15 - 20 State governors be enough to freeze the federal leviathan in its tracks?

Just let Houston and Austin secede and Texas will be just fine.

Oklahoma would be right there with our neighbor Texas if and when it happens. We would proudly stand shoulder to shoulder for our freedoms and rights. We come today as free men, and free men we are! We will fight! Last November, Nobama did not carry a single county in Oklahoma. Besides it would make the new National Football Championships easier, we would just have to decide where the game would be played. Our oil and gas added to that of Texas, and our power grid and windpower, the energy is there. We had a great Tea Party as well, look here for some photos:

"Would a joint proclamation of, say, 15 - 20 State governors be enough to freeze the federal leviathan in its tracks? " Hmmm! Not sure....but it could be almost as important if it helped raise awareness among the 80% of the current population that do not have the slightest clue about the 10th Amendment and it's ramifications.
Maybe then things like today's Rasmussen poll that clearly demonstrates this ignorance could be affected.
If the emperor and his ruling class saw polls showing either:
- 40%-60% of the serfs "might" support secession; or, at least,
- Demand that the federal government stay within the limits on it's powers as clearly limited within the former Constitution.
In that case there could very well be enough to "freeze the federal leviathan in its tracks".

Thanks for the photos of your OKC Tea Party. I was only there once, on my way to visit my beloved uncle who lived near Prague and is now buried in that cemetery. I liked the city and really liked the country.
Last November, Nobama did not carry a single county in Oklahoma.
That is truly to be proud of. On the contrary, I seriously doubt if McCain carried ANY counties here in CA.
I like your post: "We will fight!"

Good points all. Much of the electorate, such as it is, has been led down the garden path by nanny staters and their water carriers in the cheerleading media. One has to wonder what it would take to stir the unwashed from their apathy. Which leads me to wonder if the "stimulus" isn't designed primarily to keep the natives from becoming restless and starting to ask some pertinent questions of their
leaders.
Alarms should be going off in every municipality, county and state in the nation alerting everyone the ship of state is fast approaching an iceberg and all we hear is an indistinct low rumble off in the distance and wonder what will come of it.

"Alarms should be going off in every municipality, county and state in the nation ....." Only alarms I've heard so far (at least from politicians of both parties) is fear of not getting a big enough chunk of the stolen money!
We'll have to see, in the next couple of months, whether the tea parties have had any effect.
