"Texas is a unique place. When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that," Perry said. "My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention. We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, who knows what may come of that."

How long do you think it would be before OK. & LA. would want to join them?
I said it before, and I will say it again:
If Texas raises the Stars and Bars, with a resolve to preserve the US Constitution as intended, the South, the lower Midwest, the Rockies, and the Southwest will go with them, and the rest of the Midwest will follow shortly.
“no allies they could trust on any of their borders.”
What about Oklahoma and Arkansas - 2 fairly conservative states? As a Arkansan, I can tell you they would have a lot of sympathy, even if Arkansas didn’t join them. Although I view Texas secession as unlikely at this point, if it gets to that point it will set many of the Red states on fire. You could see a good chunk of the south and mid-west joining them.
Ok and Ar might be friendly towards Texas, but I doubt that BO and company would be very pleased.
Thanks for the clarification. I do believe that most ACORN thugs have been gang banging for quite some time now. ACORN is just a convenient way to organize gang members into Obama operational units. Well armed and dangerous. Check local murder rates. Its mostly all them anyway.
Funny, I don't hear any calls to disarm them! Just white, middle class Christian, tax paying, job holding gun owners in suburbia. Them's the right wing nuts!!!
Who could have EVER dreamed in the 1970s that the Soviet Union would be gone and that the country would divide into historical and cultural nations? NOBODY! But, it happened and it will happen here unless the Federal government is reeled in. We elect these 538 or so people and we can replace them with candidates who cherish OUR governmental traditions and culture. We've been hijacked by leftists while we've been busy earning livings and paying taxes. We snoozed. They grabbed power.
We either re-take the House in 21010 or its over and some of us begin the process of PEACFULLY leaving the Union. If they want to stop the process, they will have to kill million of Americans who are only seeking freedom from government oppression. Should be an interesting couple of years...
21010 = 2010 (we can’t wait THAT long!!!)
BIG difference between then and now. Pantex alone guarantees that.
Like Israel.
Texas produces as much oil as it can produce as there are few if any viable areas in the state that are off limits to E&P.
Actually, I am a Texan and have a view of the Texas State Capitol from my deck.
I am a Texan, but I realize that Texas will not succeed from the Union.
I take it back you are a Shamefull Federal Bootlicker that lives in Texas, I guess living around all of those Travis County weirdos has gotten to you. Say hello to your doper slacker friends.
Man that is a long wait.
Austin may be full or weirdos, but the economy here is still strong, there are 10 or 12 rises going up in the downtown and property values have continued to increase.
With that said, Texas will not leave the Union.
However, if Texas were to succeed, it would be great from my investments here in Austin.
.
Good post potlatch!
Not only do we in the Great State of Texas have our own electric grid, we also have our own military forces, the Texas State Guard. See:
I looked at my atlas last night, and Oklahoma is a natural as a member of the new nation. I would like to add in New Mexico eventually, since it is a personal favorite:) and seems to be a favored “get away” spot for Texans. Win-win:)
