I'm hoping to be able to ascertain an overall national figure of attendance at the tea parties today by asking Freepers to post their crowd estimates on this thread.
I'm also asking that the thread be kept to just the numbers, no photos, etc., but if you want to link back to photos in your crowd estimate that's fine.
Please give the location and number of participants.
I'll go first:
Melbourne, FL - 1000.
I actually believe the MSM would want to suppress the numbers in this particular case of those mean-spirited, evil right-wing extremisms coming out in full force today.
My husband was at the Downtown Chicago rally at the Federal Building Plaza - 10,000 was the estimated number reported on NBC-TV Channel 5 Chicago tonight. He concurs. Said it was "a standing room only CRUSH" which is amazing considering it is truly in Obama's playing ground.
I was at the tea party being held in Lisle IL (western suburb of Chicago) - my estimate at 2:30pm today was 1500 - 2000 (I was able to get up on a picnic table at the public park and survey the crowd).
That’s GREAT!
Oklahoma bump!!
In Franklin?? Holy Cow! Neighboring towns must have come over lol
Riverside CA 300 max but noisy.
500 in Conroe, TX
The “Million Mom March” counted everyone who participated in a sympathy protest. I wonder if we can count all those horn-honking thumbs-uppers?
We left at 6:00 pm and the radio was estimating 6,000 with people still arriving. (It was scheduled until 7:00 pm.) I haven't found a final tally anywhere yet. It looked like more than that to me (based on concerts I've attended in the past, I would say 8,000). Everyone was tightly packed in because no one could hear the speakers.
I heard of one incident with a Ron Paul'tard. I saw another truly offensive sign, but I think some folks took care of that. That's was the only evidence of the "other element" I saw.
Elizabethtown, KY - 250-300.
Cedar Rapids, IA 600
We had about 1200 in Palm Desert, CA. All very well behaved & honored a holocaust survivor who will be opening a new educational museum of tolerance.
The officer closest to me kept a poker face while slowly turning out the inside flap of his jacket where hed safety-pined.........a TEA BAG! ...
Great idea for a campaign like the “awareness ribbons” only make an inexpensive tea bag version.
Please also add IL - Lisle - 2000 to your tally list.
Thanks!
Nanuet New York-—congregating on one side mainly of Route 59 W. and Middletown Road, possibly as much as 100, with at least 50 visible at all times, people coming and going, going back to work, but because this was a busy road,
literally THOUSANDS of motorists going by, HONKING THEIR HORNS LOUDLY ALL AFTERNOON FOR FOUR OR FIVE HOURS!
When I first got to the Seal Beach demonstration I would have said 750 but the crowd just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger and was pretty well spread out up and down the block. You also have to factor in the people comming and going.
My best estimate at the Phoenix, Arizona Tea Party at the State Capital, 3000 - 5,000
I'm trying to figure out how to grant access to people to update it without having DUers or DKers trash it. Right now I am the only one with edit rights.
