Because of the concentrated efforts of millions of Republicans all over America, Susan Collins (Maine) was reelected to the Senate, surviving a challenge once thought to be serious. She won, in large part, because she was able to drown her Democratic adversary in a sea of campaign spending made possible by donations from Republicans throughout the nation. As a result of their efforts, the GOP preserved its 40th vote in the Senate.
And when Saxby Chambliss was forced into a runoff in the Georgia Senate race, Republicans from all over the United States poured out their hearts and their funds to get him reelected, all to save the 41st vote and be able to filibuster Democrats big spending proposals.
Now the actions of three people who told their voters that they were Republicans have eliminated any hope that the GOP has for influence during the next two years. By making their own deals with the Obama administration and settling for cosmetic improvements in the so-called stimulus package, Sens. Collins, Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) have sold out their party, their state and their supporters.
Dont buy their excuse that they shaved more than one hundred billion dollars in spending from the Senate version.
. . . . .
Collins, Snowe and Specter had a chance to send a message to Obama that he had to deal with the Republican Party to avert a filibuster. They could have made it clear that genuine bipartisan cooperation was necessary to pass legislation...
Instead, the three wimped out and caved in for peanuts from Obama. In doing so, they completely stripped their party of any leverage. There was no point in having gotten 41 votes if the three weakest links could sell the party out.

Sen. John Cornyn says Republican Sen. Arlen Specter is the GOPs best bet to keep his Pennsylvania Senate seat from falling into Democrats hands.
As I survey the political landscape of the upcoming 2010 elections, Cornyn wrote in a letter released by his office Tuesday, it's clear we need more candidates that fit their states.
While I doubt Arlen could win an election in my home state of Texas, I am certain that I could not get elected in Pennsylvania.
I believe that Senator Specter is our best bet to keep this Senate seat in the GOP column.
A vote for Arlen Specter is a vote for denying Harry Reid and the Democrats a filibuster-proof Senate.

When would Specter ever fillibuster a dem proposal?
Send all RINOS packing. No ifs, ands or buts.
Add Sen. John Cornyn to the list!

Morris doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The only people who thought Tom Allen had a chance against Collins were his campaign staff and some of his family members. Allen did just about everything wrong in his run. He couldn’t even carry Democrat strongholds. Collins money made no, or virtually no, difference. Maine people of both parties like her and she won 61.5%-38.5%. Olympia Snowe has done and will do even better. There won’t be a conservative Republican elected from Maine in our lifetime no matter what the Right in other parts of the country do or try to do.
Spending money on right wing challengers to Snowe or Collins in Maine is flushing money down a rathole.
Something else for me to throw in the faces of the RNC money callers. I think they have stopped sending me mail requests because I send them back in the postpaid envelopes saying “no modey to the R-commies Snow, Specter, Mchagar”.
Just to name three.
It was a race between two liberal democrats. Collins won because Allen had no clue what he was doing.
Because I had an Idea that the RNC would spend my contributions on any of these three traders, I tore up my RNC request for donations.
The Republican party if not brought back from the Dead by choaking off these and like minded liberals in our party, if it is not done soon and now, I will be an Independent.
I will not be a party to these people.
