Enough is enough.
With pirate activity off the coast of Africa increasing despite the efforts of a multinational coalition naval task force, the United States and other countries victimized by maritime crimes need to consider hitting the pirates at their land bases, according to Ret. Marine Major General Tom Wilkerson, CEO of the United States Naval Institute (USNI)
"The seizure of the U.S.-flagged ship Maersk Alabama and its American crew by Somali pirates is proof that the Combined Task Force simply can’t fulfill its mission to deter piracy," Wilkerson explained. "The vastness of the sea makes it too difficult to track pirates. We can’t stop them on water, so we need to take action to eliminate the pirates land-based sanctuary."

“The Ransom of Red Chief” is a 1910 short story by O. Henry.
This story tells of a young boy held for ransom by two money hungry criminals, Bill Driscoll and Sam Howard. The two men are fugitives who have escaped to the Deep South searching for an easy way to get their hands on $2,000 they need in order to launch a land fraud scheme in Illinois. They set their sights on the quiet town of Summit, Alabama because of the philoprogenitiveness — love for one’s own children — that they believe is common in rural communities.
Bill and Sam decide they will kidnap the son of an important citizen named Ebenezer Dorset, demand a ransom of $2,000, quickly collect the payoff, and be on their way. However, once they actually kidnap the boy and make their way to a hideout in the nearby hills, their plan quickly begins to unravel. Their young captive, a malevolent, redheaded brat who calls himself Red Chief, actually enjoys his stay with his kidnappers, and thinks he is on a camping trip.
Red Chief proceeds to drive his captors to distraction with pranks and demands that they play wearying games with him, such as pretending to be a scout and using Bill as his horse. Bill and Sam are soon desperate to be rid of the little terror; they lower the price to $1,500 but still receive no answer. They later receive a reply to their ransom letter from Red Chief’s father offering to take the boy off their hands for $250, but when the men bring Red Chief to his home, he does not want to leave. He then tries to stay with the two kidnappers but is held back by his father. The two kidnappers run away as quickly as they can.
I really see no problem with arming the ships with a few Marines while in the area. If they are vitally important they should be protected. I bet if some pirates ended up dead they would rethink their strategy.
That's right. We need to better understand the motivation of these pirates. Clearly, they're disenfranchised had haven't won life's lottery. You know? Like the typical white person.
We need to stop being so arrogant and start listening to the legitimate concerns of these "cargo liberators" (pirate is such a culturally insensitive word held over from the days of British imperialism).

Far simpler ...declare any speed boats in the shipping lanes off Somalia to be considered to hostile and sunk on sight. Announce that US flagged ship may be carrying armed US troops who are ordered to repel boarders with any means necessary and sink suspected pirate vessels with impunity and that any captured pirates will be summarily returned to the sea with or without boats.

This administration most likely is already working on citizenship and nice homes in MPLS so they can train some more.

Obama is not a legal standing president and it will hold up in any court of justice.
Its time to let our Armed Forces do what they are trained to do. Even if it means going against orders from POTUS, POTUS has no legal authority to command US forces to stand down.
