Russia has signed a deal to buy Israeli unmanned spy planes to help the country improve its own drones, reports say.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
You’ve really got to wonder what Israel hopes to gain by this. Those drones will be backwards engineered and handed out to Israel’s enemies in the region.
Wow! So we're all one big happy family now, huh?

Russian nuclear bombers in Cuba?
July 23, 2008
The media has been abuzz today at the prospect of Russian nuclear bombers being stationed in Cuba if the US goes ahead with plans for missile defense bases in Eastern Europe.
The story has riled the US enough that a US general has been wheeled out to tell the worlds press that any Russian attempt to build another nuclear base in Cuba would cross US red line.
The story broke earlier this week, when Russian newspaper Izvestia quoted an un-named source from within the Russian military. He told the Russian daily:
While they are deploying the missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic, our strategic bombers will already be landing in Cuba.
The quote hasnt been independently confirmed, but the Russian Defense Ministry added fuel to the fire when they refused to comment on the story.
The prospect of Russian nuclear forces being stationed in Cuba - which is, after all, only 90 miles from the US coast - would bring back some rather unpleasant memories for the US of the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, where the Soviet Union under Nikita Kruschev launched an audacious and foolhardy bid to station nuclear missiles on the Caribbean island.

[2009] Russia, China plan new joint military exercises
By MARTIN SIEFF, UPI Senior News Analyst
Published: March 26, 2009
WASHINGTON, March 26 (UPI) -- The continuing tensions over Russia's refusal to sell its state-of-the-art land warfare advanced weapons systems to China hasn't interrupted the rhythm of major joint military exercises between the two major land powers on the Eurasian landmass. The latest in the regular, biennial series of exercises between the two nations has been confirmed for this summer.
The next in the now well-established series of exercises called Peace Mission 2009 will be carried out in northeastern China, the Russian Defense Ministry announced March 18, according to a report carried by the RIA Novosti news agency.
The first bilateral Peace Mission maneuvers -- described at the time as counter-terrorism exercises -- were held in Russia and the eastern Chinese province of Shandong in August 2005. As we reported at that time, they were a lot bigger than mere counter-terrorism exercises. Warships, squadrons of combat aircraft and more than 10,000 troops were involved carrying out landings against hypothetically hostile shores. The maneuvers also involved large-scale paratroops drops. The scale and nature of those exercises suggested a trial run for a possible Chinese invasion of Taiwan with Russian support. ..."

I’m sure they will sell them to China too.
I wonder if we helped design these drones directly, because we sure as hell helped financed their development somewhere with our military aid money!
I wonder what Israel will say when in a couple of years the reverse-engineer duplicates are flying over Lebanon, Syria and around her own borders.
From past actions, I would agree.
The anwser to that question is a simple one.
- If you were Israeli, who would you pick as ally?
1. Obama
2. Putin/Medvedev
There is no third choice.
I guess Israelis made right one.
Israel sells drones to Russia who is helping Iran build it’s nuke plants to build a nuclear bomb to possibly hit Israel.
SCCCRRREEEEEWY!!
The same Putin/Medvede helping Iran build a nuclear power plant/aka nuclear bombs to wipe off Israel.
What a lot of people are failing to connect, is what the newest anti-ship missile China is reported to have developed really means. The range is something like 2,000 miles and the operational speed is something like 2,400 miles per hour. The speed may be off by a bit, but needless to say, it’s a real problem for our shipping, specifically our carriers.
Okay, what happens when China sends one of those suckers into our major cities like Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C., only with a nuclear tip?
The Cuba story regarding bombers is important. So is the idea that we could be just a few minutes away from a strike by almost undetectable cruise missiles fired way over the horizon.
They did the same thing with Walter Christie, the 30s tank designer. Bought two of his chasses, with the ‘Christie suspension’ [after the U.S War Dept refused to buy anything he designed], and ripped him off. That system, or a variant, has appeared on EVERY Soviet or Russian tank since before the T-34. They never paid him a dime in royalties.
You can bet money they are getting American drone technology not Israels.
That’s a disconcerting comment to be sure.
I don’t think Israel is under any delusion long term about who would be it’s best bet. And I don’t think that’s Putin et al. Still, it’s an interesting point to ponder.
I agree. Under normal circumstances I’d expect someone at the top in our nation to be blasting this move. Not this guy...
A lot of people are failing miserably to make all sorts of important connections about what we're up against today.
Lieberman wows for closer ties with Russia, and his woters are mainly Russian immigrants.
Also Israel adopten “non confrontation” policy towards Russia (cutting support to Georgia and denying support to Kosovo)
Isn’t that the truth. And it actually applies to both parties.
Our leaders are sleep walking into a buzz saw.
Did you hear about those poll numbers yesterday, concerning the preference of our citizens for capitalism vs communism? Good grief.
Point!
The same Putin/Medvedev that support their foreign FRIEND Iran?
Statesman see that as loyal support to an ally, while US stance against Serbia over Kosovo is seen as a trechery against Serbs, old allies of US. Also full support over carving of new muslim statelets on Balkans by US foreign policy looks reaaaaaly baaad....
Again, For smaller nations, Russia looks more stabile ally.
Lieberman doesn’t surprise me. As for Israel, it really needs to think long term. If it is seen to have abandoned Western views, it will severely harm its ability to get support from the West.
It’s enemies within the U.S. would love nothing more.
Russia is allied with the ChiComs, Chavez and the Castro bros.
