GOP cools on a hot-button issue [amnesty] [Romney on illegals] [barf]
The Boston Globe ^ | 2009-04-09 | Joan Vennochi

THOSE OLD Republican hot buttons are growing cold. For proof, check out a recent interview with Mitt Romney, a former presidential candidate and ex-governor of Massachusetts.

According to TheHill.com, a congressional newspaper that publishes when Congress is in session, "Romney believes that one way to attract more minorities to the GOP is to pass immigration reform before the next election, saying the issue becomes demagogued by both parties on the campaign trail." The article also quotes Romney as saying, "We have a natural affinity with Hispanic-American voters, Asian-American voters."

This could be extreme political repositioning, even for Romney.

. . . . .

How Romney gets beyond the flip-flop-flips of his multiple-choice positions on immigration and other issues is a mystery only he can solve.

Instead, they all seem to say that reaching out must be accompanied by pandering with new or special rights.

Well that strategy sure didn't work out as well as Juan McCain had hoped...

McCain Rebukes Hispanic Voters

McCain's message was obvious, the source continued: After bucking his party on immigration, he had no sympathy for Hispanics who are dissatisfied with President Obama's pace on the issue. "He threw out [the words] 'You people -- you people made your choice. You made your choice during the election,' " the source said. "It was almost as if [he was saying] 'You're cut off!' We felt very uncomfortable when we walked away from the meeting because of that."

We have you been?

Mitt has been clear as glass, except for the grossly fake Mr. Conservative pap he has been peddling lately.

His father was a big government liberal, his mother was a liberal, he was not only a liberal but anti Reagan/Bush( if you thought HW was too conservative, what’s that tell you?).

That was when the patriotic Romney family fled America, right? And then back?

Maybe that explains not one Romney, ever, serving to defend this great country.

Weird people.

There was this President, he sent all the Mexicans back. Name was Eisenhower.

Of course, Eisenhower was in the US military, something no Romney would know anything about.

(Kennedy’s served, Romney’s never. Is that pathetic or what?)

The US Military, cutting apron strings and building stones for 250 years.

It’s the young people that are getting screwed by older in this county. Old leftist in the schools, all the debts.

We need generational change. I’m moving on 60 years old, and I don’t want to be a part of screwing over young people, dumping a hundred trillion dollars of debts.

These old fake hag RINOs need to be put out to retirement homes to tell jokes about them and Ted Kennedy.

So Mitt is for giving a pass to the existing illegals, and not building a wall and guarding the border, so that means we will have yet more illegals coming in.

All on the unproved notion that the GOP which can not hold on or attract American conservatives, is ridiculously white bread, elitists, clueless, couldn’t give away ice cream in Hell.....and is going to win urban Latino illegals that are ALREADY deeply entrenched in the welfare state.

Yeah. Right.

Flashback:

Before Romney threw Election2008 to the Democrats
because Romney was REJECTED by the American public,
Myth Romney actually attempted to take unearned credit
for Duncan Hunter's fence, (without attribution, of course. The RomneyWAY(TM)).

Similar perhaps to when Mitt "The Myth" Romney also fabricated credit for another award he did not earn.

"Behind the empty gestures and deceptive rhetoric, Romney was not pro-life
or a defender of marriage by any stretch of the imagination.
He was a disaster," said O'Gorman, of the board for Massachusetts Citizens for Life.
He said Romney "deceptively" claims to have been awarded
a pro-life award from the group.

"The award Romney arranged for himself with the local Pioneer Valley Chapter
was the Mullins Award for Political Leadership, not a pro-life award
and not approved by MCFL's state board of directors," he said.
"We're blowing the whistle to warn voters…
"

Ooooooh, the Immigration reform ticket worked SO WELL for Juan McCain. I’m sure it will do wonders for the ‘Pubbies.

Like make them totally irrelevant when the Democrats add twelve million plus new voters...

Wrong. Mitt above all is a political opportunist, and if he thought his chances of winning the '12 GOP nomination would be increased by taking a hardline anti-amnesty approach, that's precisely what he'd do. But as I correctly pointed out, he's misinterpreting the reason the GOP got its butt kicked in the last two elections, and is proceeding (with his pro-amnesty stance) accordingly. Mitt's personal stance on the issue has nothing to do with it -- he'll go whichever way he thinks the currently political wind is blowing.

I think Mitt, and the elites want the illegals, and more of them.

It puts downward pressure on their business cost, i.e., labor.

They don’t labor for a living, so its no skin off their backs.

They don’t live in working class, low welfare towns, so they don’t pick up the school, crime, costs.

Mitt is an opportunist and his whole goal in life is to be the first Mormon President.

Of course. But the point is that Mitt would take the opposite position on this issue if he thought it'd get him nominated/elected.

Judging by the plethora of cartoons, Americans know that
Romney would take both sides at the same time, if he thought
it would help him (which is why he tells his people to "promise anything")
as shown by video, FR thread, and ABC audio tape.

RINO Chameleon carpetbagger socialist Mitt Romney: “Make all the promises you have to...

Lst I checked, Romney is a politician. It should all make sense.

How can you be so obtuse and still figure out how to turn a computer on?

Everyone offered an immigration reform plan who was running last year, including Tom Tancredo. When Tom dropped out, he endorsed... Romney, because Romney's plan was most similar to his own.

I guess certain mouth breathers in these parts have pretty poor memories.
