"The percentage of self-identified Christians has fallen 10 points in the past two decades. How that statistic explains who we are nowand what, as a nation, we are about to become."

Amen to that. I remember me and my mom once sitting around lamenting the state of our country and the world. My sister, who was at the time a non-Christian, said, “Aren’t you guy supposed to rejoice when times get tough...doesn’t that mean that Jesus is closer to coming back.” Needless to say, my mom and I sat there looking at her in stunned silence.
There’s nothing better than God’s Word to some up what’s coming (and what we are supposed to be CONSTANTLY doing about it)!
“There is a real movement towards genuine faith in Christianity today - it may not have the sheer numbers that it had twenty or thirty years ago, but the fire is burning just as brightly and impacting thousands of lives.”
Seeing it too. That won’t keep the persecution from coming but it does put us in a spot to pass on what the Bible says will happen to those who follow Christ... not the watered down version some get now. That’s a great testimony you’ve got there and one that will no doubt continue to be repeated in the new America we’re being handed.
As the sinking economy cuts into the frivolities of more prosperous times, I could well predict this. The more suffering that befalls, the more soul there seems to be. Jesus is not a fair weather friend.
Guess who the Spirit of God was poking at.
“God is dead” — Nietzsche
“Nietzsche is dead” — God
“Nietzsche is God” — Dead
Well I know He was poking at my mom and I...but I have a feeling there was plenty of poking to go around :o)
More like the devil is trying to shame seekers out of bothering with Christianity. The devil seems to know when God is on the verge of a significant conquest.
I think you meant Nietzsche is dead God. ???
You're supposed to ping a FReeper if you mention them in a post. ;)
Somebody help me out here but isn’t that what this means?
‘For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect - if that were possible. (Mark 13:22, NIV).’
Of all the stupid times to push the idea that God is dead, Easter has to be the stupidest.
Excellent point...I’m sure all the “educated intellectuals” are just slapping themselves on the back in printing this at Easter thinking the lowly confused faithful would never understand the nuance of it all...Pray for them that the Holy Spirit brings them to know God and they will gladly proclaim HE IS RISEN!!!
LOL...I just got it...LOL!
Yes, possibly more in the realm of keeping the unsaved from seeing or hearing the Gospel message, which is why it’s also important for all Christians to proclaim the Gospel to all that they know, in their private lives and not depend on the “hired gun evangelists” to do it for them... :-)
Well..., that (to me) says, fairly clearly, that it’s not possible to deceive the elect (at least not “ultimately”, but I’ll grant perhaps “temporarily”).
This kind of deception is primarily for those who are “religious” but not “Christian”...
In many cases it is simply reminding people of what they have heard before, but this is the time that God has chosen for them to take heed. Even a bumper sticker can do that (but then you have to remember to drive like a Christian).
You said — Even a bumper sticker can do that (but then you have to remember to drive like a Christian).

Well, you could have a bumper sticker that says “If there is a problem with my driving call 1-800-CALL-GOD” ... LOL...
“Well..., that (to me) says, fairly clearly, that its not possible to deceive the elect (at least not ultimately, but Ill grant perhaps temporarily).”
I believe that’s exactly what it says. That’s what I thought the discussion was about... maybe I misunderstood. There will be some misled in the end times (think we’re there) but I don’t think the true believers will be lost for good. Peter even blasphemed God for a bit there. Sure am glad God is a God of grace.
I’ve heard that The One’s personal valet announces that zero is up and ready to do business with the words: He is risen.
‘Ive heard that The Ones personal valet announces that zero is up and ready to do business with the words: He is risen.”
He is risen, indeed!
Funny, funny!
