Time for the wisdom of Solomon.
*GROAN*
How about a King Solomon solution? Threaten to slice the bird in half so they can share it equally, then the REAL ‘Mom’ will step up to save the bird, even though she’ll be giving it away.
(That story used to TERRIFY me in Sunday School; I thought for sure they were gonna kill that baby. It obviously has made an impression upon me.)

African Greys are probably the best talkers of all parrots. Maybe the judge is planning to ask the bird who she wants to live with? Courts do often take into account the wishes of 13 years olds in custody battles.
It’ll probably outlive both of them.
He’s an African grey...could he not tell people his name? It’s not like a dog or cat that needs a chip or a locket.
The first owner didn’t keep the bird clipped and then wondered why he flew away. My vote is for the second owner ... assuming she cares enough about the bird to keep its wings clipped.
