I'm hoping the DPRK will release video as they did in 1998.
Two hours have passed and there is no word about anything being placed into orbit. The third stage might have failed or it was just a dummy.
It would be nice to know the burnout velocity.

North Korea is a stone aged kingdom. China, South Korea and Japan need to decide who gets what and then support however they want to divide it up. This is not our problem. They hit our soil, we destroy NK and then let whomever wants it take it.
Too bad we don't have a president with a brain...

just a little more than 3 months. Sorry, my bad -- a little more than TWO months.
My how time flies when you have the new Administration spending your grandchildrens' money and you shake in your boots at the thought of Obama as CINC.
Looks like his years and experience as a Community Organizer is about to pay off... < /sarc>

South Korean news now stating that the circumstances made for the appearance of centering on an actual effort to launch a satellite.

Both FNC and CNN asleep at the wheel. Asleep, my pitoot! They are not eager to tarnish the EU king's great adventure with the mundane of reality.

I am here from 97, and was earlier than my nom de plume indicates. I was housemouse before we all had to re-register. For some reason, I couldn’t re-register with my original name.

Class of 98 here too. Lots of reputable FReepers from that era. I'm going to sign off for the evening too. My wife has a 7 AM shift in the morning.

SecDef Gates said last week, we are not prepared to respond militarily to the NK launch. That is very strange. Whatever happened to all warfare is based on deception. If I was in charge and we had decided to not intercept a missile firing, the last thing I would do is announce that fact. Shear stupidity. After the Norkies heard that statement, I bet one of their generals suggested capitalizing on this opportunity (more precisely described as a vulnerability).
To: exit82
I was hoping that when Gates said that we were not prepared to respond militarily, it was to throw the NKers off guard. That missile should not have been allowed to leave the gantry, like you said earlier. There should be a crater there now. Israel now knows for certain it cannot count on Obama or Gates or Clinton. Bibi will be starting his countdown soon for the strike on Iran. That's the real news but I bet you don't see anyone say anything like that tomorrow on the empty head Sunday talk shows.

I like your tagline.
Never thought I would see it in America, but 1776 will be needed again if the Boy Blunder doesn’t change gears—soon.

Biden’s comments about “Watch. We’re going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.” “And he’s going to need help.. to stand with him. Because it’s not going to be apparent initially; it’s not going to be apparent that we’re right.”
Thanks for bringing that quote back around.

Hussein is busy trashing GWB and the US overseas.... Not satisfied giving away our foreign policy sovereignty, he's now busy giving away our domestic policy.

Dang I feel bad cuz I didn't make it until September of '98That's when I started lurking on FR. Attended the March for Justice in DC on 10/31/98, but didn't sign up until 12/30/98. We didn't miss any of the good parts!
