‘Tea Parties’ — A New Political Movement Is Brewing (Tea Party/Tax Revolt updates and links)
Fox News ^ | April 4, 2008 | Peter Roff

Washington’s continued mishandling of the economic crisis has disquieted the electorate. The bad economic numbers, the precipitous decline in the stock market, the dramatic increase in government spending and the tax increases lying just over the horizon paint a picture of an out-of-control federal government grasping at straws in the search for solutions.

snip

In the case of the current crisis the blame appears to have been assigned almost totally to Obama, at least by the thousands of U.S. taxpayers attending near-spontaneous “tea parties” in protest of the Democrats agenda of more taxes, increased spending, higher deficits and a surge of borrowing to pay for it all. These mass protests, which have been occurring in different spots almost weekly — 2,000 people in St. Louis, 3,000 people in Cincinnati, 6,000 people in Orlando — promise to culminate on Tax Day, April 15, with at least 300 protests at sites large and small according to the “official” Tax Day Tea Party Web site.

As was the case with the Obama campaign, the new “Tea Party Movement” is bringing people out to engage in politics, many for the first time in their lives. And, again, as was the case with the Obama presidential campaign, these activists are making liberal use of new media technologies like Twitter and Facebook to find supporters and allies, to meet each other and to establish a sense of community...

snip

The “Tea Parties” augur the beginnings of a new political movement, it is now clear, that may eventually exceed the power of MoveOn.org and others of the new liberal pressure groups in their ability to influence the votes of politicians in Washington as well as state capitals in every region of the country.

promise to culminate on Tax Day, April 15

April 15th isn't the culmination. It is only one step of a growing grassroots movement to take back the country.

You go first.

Already way ahead of you. So is everyone else that is dumping their stocks, excessive expenses, employees, subscriptions to mainstream media (I dont have cable anymore), reductions in business advertising, new hires, expansion, etc. The government can tell me how much of my money belongs to them, but they cannot tell me how much income I will choose to generate in the future. What happens when the federal government discovers (soon) that they are just as broke and insolvent as everyone else is? How does a foreign government "foreclose" on the debt we have incurred already upon which the interest cannot even be serviced? Time to get out of debt fast and buy gold.

Sent Glenn Beck a suggestion last night, to call for a July 4th nationwide candlelight demo. Rather than celebrate what we have always had, we should demonstrate to the WORLD that we will not let it (our freedom) be taken away!

Candles lit everywhere! Homes, Businesses, Farms, front lawns, everywhere a candle can be displayed. We are mourning the oncoming dictatorship and our loss of FREEDOM!
People who cannot get to tea partys can now participate.
Watch the reaction. American Candle Party?

Something like this just has to be done!

Sounds a little gay to me. I say we hold a nationwide burning of our tax returns at every post office in this country on Apr 15th!

On July 4th we do it again! Except this time BIGGER!

I have a better suggestion. Celebrate the 4th with a "Day at the Range." Make sure your "assault rifle" is sighted in.

“A New Political Movement Is Brewing.”

This is the proper step in taking back the country from the thugs in Washington. It’s been a long time coming. Many branches will grow from the tea party tree. If I could draw a parallel time period between now and the founding of our country, I’d place us at about 1765. The old North Bridge is still in the future.

I don't see it coming to that. Our current crop of politicians are nothing if not spineless. I think they'll fold like newspapers as the confrontation heightens. I think they'll get religion rather quickly.

Strictly my opinion, of course.
