REQUESTING THE INSURANCE COMMISSIONER TO STUDY THE REQUIRING PROOF OF MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE TO PURCHASE FUEL.
-Snip-
WHEREAS, one suggested approach to removing uninsured drivers from the road is to deny them access to purchase gasoline at gas stations, by issuing motor vehicle insurance cards to insured motorists which would allow them to purchase gas; and
I already have the speed pulse wire and mike disconnected on mine, plus a new upgraded sound system thats not tied in to it.
Of course pulling the fuse would work but on some new cars it affects the operation of the engine controls, limit the input and degrade its wireless connection.
They do that in certain parts of Texas now. As far as showing proof of insurance when fueling up, not a good idea if you like to pay at the pump. Of for station owners.
How much to disable the nagging wife sitting next to me when I drive?
So I will need motor vehicle insurance for my chain saw or lawn mower?
Things are rapidly spinning OUT OF CONTROL in government these days.
Obama will fix the problem. Instant free government car insurance to anyone that has an accident without insurance.
So now I get to pay for uninsured motorist coverage twice (once for myself and once for this program)? Maybe I should cancel my insurance and “take my chances”. Oh wait, I am a conservative; don’t get that benefit.
What does this mean for the future of lawnmowers? Sir, I need to see your license and proof of insurance before you can fill that can. And what’s with all the beer? :-)
this would be awesome in texas!
would keeep all the illegals off the road.
damn if those aholes can’t drive
I’m just being logical. If government will provide health insurance to those that don’t have it, then why not car insurance too?
One of the biggest problems any state faces in dealing with uninsured motorists is that many of them are so far "off the charts" that they don't even have the most basic documentation required to drive a motor vehicle on a public road.
Think of an illegal alien without a driver's license who drives a heap of junk with fake or stolen plates, no registration, no insurance, etc. This person represents a tangible risk to other drivers -- and yet is pretty much beyong the reach of the law in the event he is involved in an accident that causes damage to property and/or injury to a person.
New York City used to deal with these knuckleheads by simply seizing the cars (the rationale being that the driver would consider the loss of the vehicle a substantial loss). All that did was motivate these creatures to drive older and crummier cars.
The idea has a lot of holes, but at least someone is looking at the uninsured motorist problem.
One fuse removes Onstar. I know because mine is dead.
so the illegal is going to buy insurance for the days he needs gas?
Mandatory car insurance is the easiest thing in the world..just ask the people who finance your car. If the insurance is renewed, cancelled or changed the insurance company notifies the lien holder.
We need a system that has you get non-cancelable one year insurance when you get your new tags. No insurance no tags..no cancel. But the Rats fight that..no wiggle room for the “poor” to cancel.
Oh noes!!!! “Chainsaw Wielding Lawnmower Gang Wreaks Havoc...”
No, you will need to file the proper paperwork with the DOT to get an exemption that gives you an allowance of fuel per week...all for a special fee of course...and higher tax rates to cover the additional government regulations required to keep track of your lawn mower fuel for you.
Just a fuse on mine. I pulled the one on mine many months ago.
No. he buys insurance just long enough to get his proof of insurance card. Then he cancels his insurance. As long as he has proof of insurance, he doesn’t need insurance.
I would fight that too. I don’t want big brother keeping tabs on my bills...wether I pay them on time or whatnot.
No...but I expect to see a question that asks how many gas powered tools I have...on the next census.
And how many pets. And what kind.
We will be taxed on these...by the Feds. It's coming...........
