Fox's Van Susteren Vulnerable to Beck's Success, Palin Ties

Greta Van Susteren, a Fox News prime-time host, is being scrutinized for a questionably close relationship to Sarah Palin.
It seems that Van Susteren's husband, John Coates, is a political adviser to the Alaska governor.
Questions about the Palin link, combined with the overnight success of Glenn Beck at Fox News, makes observers wonder if Beck might soon get Van Susteren's spot.
Insiders say Beck has already been viewed as a possible replacement for Van Susteren, who represents the weakest link in Fox's otherwise indomitable lineup.
Van Susteren's ratings are getting smashed by Beck, whose show, despite airing in the ghetto that is 5 p.m., is already the network's third-highest-rated program.
So far, Fox says the switch won't happen, in part, because the network has always had a woman in its prime-time lineup and Fox News chief Roger Ailes is reluctant to change that

If you dump her for the popular Beck fine, but trying to tie Palin to it is silly. Palin is still popular and a major story. The fact that Great has a “in” with her, is a positive for Fox and Greta.

Beck is a little emotional at times, but a lot of people seem to like it. Just as long as he doesn’t become hystercial every night like Nancy Grace
To: lewisglad
Greta von Cistern and the other lib Whorealdo should both be dumped. They belong on MSNBC.

And I'm sure none of the media has a cozy relationship with Obama.

Beck is unstable and volatile. He will burn out fast. At the risk of being slammed.....I agree with you. I do watch him most days just because it generally beats the alternative, but I'm not sure how much longer that will be the case.
To: Mamzelle
There ya go. Have Beck move in to the 7;00 spot. Great does okay, I sometimes watch. But having Cavuto at 4, break for dinner at 5 (when Shemp is on) and be back in time to watch Brett Baier/Beck /O’Reilly/Hannity. Now that’s a lineup.
Can’t stand Shep Smith

Wow. The media mischaracterization of Van Susteren's husband (attorney John P. Coale) as any kind of official advisor to Governor Palin is a typical job of intentionally shoddy reporting. All they had to do was check his campaign contributions to see that he's donated tens of thousands of dollars to the DNC, to John Kerry's senatorial campaign, and a variety of other Democrat candidates and organizations. He has functioned as an
unpaid advisor to Palin, just as he has functioned as an
unpaid advisor to Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi. I have no idea why...maybe he has an odd attraction to women politicians...but his politics are clearly Democrat.

Now how hard is that to find out? (Not directing this at you, but at the author of the article.)

Greta's spot would be better earlier in the day. Her show tends to be a gossip magazine formated show, discussing the latest celebrity scandals, or pretty people that are missing, dead or in trouble with the law. She would do better in the day time.
Becks program would be dynamite right after Hannity.

Greta has the only show that is even barely watchable in Prime Time of FNS. I know she's a dem but she's not a blind and stupid coll aid drinker. I can watch her about once a week. I can't take 5 minutes of Hannity or O'Reilly. BOR is a bore and a populist phony and Hannity has his hearty in the right place but he's as loud as he is dumb.
Anyway...I don't care who goes to make room for Glenn, I just hope they get him a Prime Time slot.

Greta has evolved into a darn good reporter....in the true sense of the word.
The running soap opera epic tragedies have been erased from her show. She's been given the task of doing more foreign, domestic and economic news. She has responded admirably.
Both in the studio or wherever they send her on location for breaking news, she does the job capably with intelligent interviews and unbiased questions and comments. She commands respect.
Beck should bump the Shep news gig into the 10 PM eastern pre-going-to-bed news slot.
Then there's that sharp blond attorney-ette (getting a mental block on her name) who should get a Sunday night commentary show and bump Geraldo's useless hour into a black hole somewhere.
