President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle arrived in Britain last night to bring some glamour to the G20 summit of world leaders. The Presidential plane, Air Force One, touched down at Stansted just before 8pm for Mr Obama's first official visit to Europe. A crowd of well-wishers, many waving U.S. flags, had gathered in the cold to welcome the couple
Hand in hand, they waved from the steps of the Boeing 747, the First Lady wearing a bright yellow dress and the President in a dark suit and spotted tie.
They were greeted by Chancellor Alistair Darling - and tight security - before travelling on to London
Selected members of the President's 500-strong entourage were airlifted to London in American military Chinook helicopters. Later today Mr Obama will go to Buckingham Palace for a real British welcome - a cup of tea. He will be offered it at a meeting with the Queen and Prince Philip in their private apartments
The 'getting to know you' session - which will probably last about 25 minutes - is something of a break with protocol because visiting heads of state normally meet the monarch only if they are on an official state visit, whereas Mr Obama will be in town as one of a number of leaders. After the meeting, the couple will be taken to a reception to welcome the heads of state of the G20 and other nations attending. Most senior members of the Royal Family...

He will probably use the traditional "saucered and blowed" method with sippy-slurping sounds normally practiced by uncouth louts such as he.
Thanks for the info. I just never thought of flying over the limo, but security wise having the two does make sense.
Michele better dress better than I saw her this morning!! Yikes..
How embarrassing, especially the part about Michelle. Obama bringing a pal to play basketball is not really embarrassing but is very wasteful and selfish; remember during his first prime-time speech he said everyone had to make sacrifices adding "and that includes me." Right.
Folks, this is NOT Obama drinking tea with the queen. Read the article!!!
I bet he doesn’t wink at her.
We read the article Mr. Inhouseliberal and we don’t care.
We are having fun.
“We read the article Mr. Inhouseliberal and we dont care.
We are having fun.”
Guess that includes all the folks who REALLY thought this was a shot of him drinking tea with the queen — and there are quite a few.
My thoughts exactly!!! What a pathetic disgrace he is!
I thought he was having tea with the Banking Queen :-)
You're thinking of Dodi Al-Fayed, Mohamed's son. Dodi died in the crash with Princess Di.
“We are having fun.”
Hey, well maybe he’ll give the queen a nice shoulder massage.
He dressed **casual** to have tea with the Queen?!?!?!?!
Oh. sigh.
That's the funniest thing I've heard all week! ROFL
When I see her and hear her speak, I channel Zera from the original Planet of the Apes (apologies to Kim Hunter).
I read several of the comments below the article, and the majority are not impressed by the whole spectacle. Many posts are asking why they all didn’t just have a web conference instead of spending all that money when we’re having a recession.
Do you think he will be as agile as he was with the irish leader?
