TREASURY BOSS: I PUSHED FOR AIG LOOPHOLE (mass Dem suicide---Tim, Obama, Dodd swilling Kool-aid)
NY POST ^ | 3/20/09 | Daphne Reiter , Washington

Tim Geithner admitted he asked Sen Chris Dodd (D-Conn) to protect AIG bonuses in the bailout bill. Geithner is in a finger-pointing match with Dodd "....we just expressed concern about a legal challenge," he told CNN. But Geithner was silent when Dodd insisted Treasury forced him to include the AIG exemption, and was silent when Obama's people told news outlets that Dodd's account (which Dodd changed from the previous day), was not true. Geithner also appeared to back away from Obamas' assertion that he first learned of the bonuses last week..... House Republicans moved to force Geithner to provide an accounting of all communications re AIG. Dodd said he remained confident in Geithner's performance. "I do, and the president does, and that's what's key," Dodd said.

Thanks.

The late economist John Kenneth Galbraith blamed Goldman Sachs policies for causing the Great Depression of '29.

In his book, The Great Crash, 1929, Galbraith, a key figure in JFK's admin, devoted an entire chapter to G/S, entitled “In Goldman, Sachs, We Trust.”

Details the “large-scale corporate thimblerigging” that Goldman and other Wall Streeters practiced in the 1920s.

Our CPA said that one of their blogs had the reality posted as this thread. He said only Senate Democrats and Obama’s rat pack would dare try to BS America about these bonuses.

Nice to hear.

.....the AIG bonuses are NOTHING, and will obscure the far more important stuff....

Think of this as the straw that broke the camel's back.

And remember that Al Capone was not nailed for his multiple actual crimes---but was put away for tax evasion.

I would love to see Dems nailed for the BIG crimes but sometimes going in the back door gets the job done.

Goldman says it had no direct credit exposure to AIG
By Greg Morcroft
Last update: 11:37 a.m. EDT March 20, 2009

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Goldman Sachs Chief Financial Officer David Viniar said Friday that the firm would not have lost money from specific derivatives contracts with American International Group had the insurer failed rather than been rescued by the government. “We have stated consistently that Goldman Sachs did not have a significant economic exposure to AIG. AIG’s disclosure of cash flows to counterparties does not in any way contradict that statement,” Viniar said in a conference call with reporters on Friday. “We had commercial contracts with AIG. We entered into these contracts on commercial terms. We were fully hedged with either credit default swaps or collateral, so we were not in a position to take a loss,” Viniar said.

This will not end until the MSM is toppled.

I agree. We’ve been targeting the wrong people. I don’t watch or read the traditional MSM outlets, unless seeing it here in FR or Drudge.

Dodd’s number may finally be up. We can defeat him next year IF we have a decent candidate.

Nightly News reports indicate he's being hammered by the Conn press........as a liar, and a toady of finance industry campaign contributors.

Watch Dodd skedaddle to take refuge in Ireland (his 3rd home) and give press interviews in Gaelic---to throw voters off the scent (/snic).

Reagan was called "the Teflon president" or some such, because he spoke from his heart and to all our hearts. We knew what he stood for and supported it. The partisan media shills probably invented that term with disparaging intent; they will run interference and plant memes etc to bail out their Sock Puppet Messiah.

Anyone who thinks Dodd isn't going to be the fall guy for this hasn't been payin' attention, IMHO. To figure out what's going to happen, someone who knows CT and the Congress better than I do will have to lay out the scenario for when Dodd steps down or is removed or voted out. Thanks!
