It makes me feel sick inside. If anyone else has another take please share?

I kind of like the idea if it were used in a positive way.

I think Israel has mandatory service for it's young people. I like the idea of the discipline of military service which instills national pride.

We have a great country but we are at a tipping point where we have more takers than we have givers. Everybody wants their "rights" but nobody ever talks about responsibilities.

If it were done correctly, I believe we could revive the American spirit which started to wither away fifty years ago.

That being said, if the present socialist administration has anything to do with it, it could spell the end of freedom as we know it.

That’s like saying if socialism was “done correctly” it would positive.

It aways leads to the same end. Pain and suffering.

Once you decided to take that road your destination is a given. It then only becomes a matter of how long it will take to get there.

The wiser choice is to not start down that road in the first place.

Yeah, and over the camp gates we could put up signs that say "Work Makes You Free."

Crawl away and lick somewhere else.

“If it were done correctly, I believe we could revive the American spirit which started to wither away fifty years ago.”

Back at that time many of us were wondering about Selective Service much was said about fairness of it all, and ponderous thought naturally drifted to the idea of some sort of equal commitment for all. Realistically, the government wouldn’t have known what to do with that many 18 - 26 year old men and women just out of high school or perhaps partially trained, even college grads w/professional skills, much less the infrastructure and funding to implement it. You’re right, scary proposition in the hands of a socialist administration not worried one bit about spending what the country doesn’t have.

Mandatory - NO! A thousand times NO!

Take away the freebies that so many depend on and you’ll be amazed at the changes in a few short years.

Without the gov teatsucking, many problems will just with on the vine.

I understand what you say. All these programs get coopted ultimately. However the way it’s being shaped is taken over by communists who have monopoly on the language used.

I mean, can you say rape the dead, the kids and eat liberal media dung without expecting them to ever be allowed emancipation again from this load of abuse?

They just do not get away with money and murder in North Korea, it’s a whole cult of necrophiliac economy based on death of Western ideals as well as scatophagic media crap feed manipulation, sugar coating evil and smearing with dung the “babies”.

This is what Obama’s sixties hell hole hails from.

What? Are you having a moment here?

You cannot “revive American spirit” - or anything else - by *forced participation* in service to the government.

That is reviving Soviet or Nazi spirit, not American.

(LucyT, could you ping to this please?)

I know I have posted this several times on past threads. It has always been the most frightening snippet about Obama I have ever read. The speaker, Robin L West worked with Obama on the Harvard Law Review. Georgetown Law - Full time Faculty

=============================

Obama kept Law Review balanced - Politico.com Print View

.......Obama "clearly agreed with me at the time that a shift in constitutional thinking from a rights-based discourse to one that centered [on] responsibility and duties ... would be a good thing," West told Politico. "Partly because of those conversations, I don't find it surprising at all that Sen. Obama's speeches are often marked by calls to spark a sense of responsibility, rather than a sense of grievance......"
(Excerpt)
===========================

IOW, obama believes duty to government is primary. Individual rights, what this country was founded on, finishes second.

Get the right judges on SCOTUS and the Constitution can mean anything they want it to mean.

It is not a good thing no matter how one looks at it. I have never understood why that quote never got any traction.

It should never be done, PERIOD. There is no such think as "if it is handled right" because sooner or later it will fall into the hands of someone like Bozo.

Israels mandatory service is for the military and very similar to out old draft. If the draft were reinstated I would not be too unhappy, but to say people should go into "camps" can never be handled correctly.

BTW, we are not Israel or any other country and it doesn't matter what other countries do. We don't require, or allow, involuntary servitude.

I will never go to a camp, if the bill is really written that way, and I would encourage every young person I know or come across to resist such tyrannical BS.

However, not having read the bill I really don't know what is in it yet. I would suspect the left will soft peddle this at first in an effort to pass it. Later will come amendments or rules that allow the bureau that runs it to add whatever provisions they want, regardless of the will of the people.

Look, national service or community service is indeed a fine thing. The Jews in Israel have damn good reason for consscription, they are fighting for their survival.

Hussein’s vision is of the USA not fighting for freedom, but giving up its sovereignty for the “good of the world”.

You are right in theory...but as you said, in practice, this administration is a freakin’ danger. I do not trust them. Not a bit.

It's called, "SURVIVAL!" The only way for Israel to exist is to ensure that everyone has the right to defend it and themselves against the enemies from without and within who constantly yearn to destroy it.

These will be indoctrination/brainwashing camps. Make no mistake. This is HITLER all over again. We need to be combing these bills for a “term limit” change. With my tin foil hat on securely, I don’t believe we will ever have “free and fair” elections in this country again. Ever.

I do not belong to the STATE. I really don't give a flying F how they do it in Israel. Israel is mostly another welfare state sucking off the US taxpayer, like NY City.

My children do not belong to the state. My children will not serve in Obama's army of the poor.

I'm not sure the libtards understand how serious this is. It is a line in the sand. They cross it at their own peril.

I believe this used to be the draft, except now it would include both genders. Amen. I would not comply. Amen.

It is not Charity or Volunteering if one is forced. Our country was not founded on this mentality, in fact, there is a law in place sating specifically against forced service.

They are talking about every single person serving, including retired baby boomers, and probably older. They are referring to elementary school children serving. Therefore, there could be a law in place forcing a 5 year old to volunteer, service, work for free, or whatever you would like to call it.

I think it’s really bad.

This ISN'T about military service.

This is about being forced to clean the toilets of inner city lazies.

Obamas answer to the slums is NOT to require slum livers to get off their butts and do something.....

.....it IS to force EVERYONE into the misery that is the slum.

Liberalism spreads the misery around.

Huh? It shouldn’t matter who is charge. If the republicans used it then the Rats would eventually get their hands on it.

I serve in the military...I don’t want peole fighting with me who don’t want to be there. I’d rather have 5 true volunteers than 100 non-volunteers.

Yes Isreal has military conscription as it is a Jewish nation of about 5 million Jews surrounded by 300 million arabs that want to finish Hitlers handy work . But it is only military conscription for reasons of survival, not a draft for every social cause under the sun to be funded by tax money stolen from you at the point of a gun & manned by your kids & grandkids as draftees.

Somehow, I keep hearing the part in the one speech where Obama mentions that he wants to raise a “civilian army” . Perhaps this is a sideways step to get there.
