Fords and Toyotas.
More like $5,000 each, hot.
It does smell at this time.
We are in agreement here:

this is funny....ever been to Scottsbluff?....its a nice town of about 15,000 in outstate Nebraska...theyll be talking about this caper for years down at the local cafe....it sounds like something
How many auto transports are needed to haul away 81 vehicles?
Probably at least a dozen or more.
So a dozen auto transport trucks pull up in a small town and load 81 vehicles without anyone hearing the loading or seeing the loading and leaving.
We live over 3 miles from our Auto Row. Some days we can hear the vehicles being loaded or unloaded.”
fyi
Used Cars was one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen.
Onr of my favorite scenes is where they had nuns protesting outside of the dealership..
Rudy: C’mon Jeff! You’ve seen how bad business is. Thanks to Fuchs, our name is mud! Look... we had nuns, protesting out front when I got here this morning.
Jeff: Nuns?
Rudy: Yeah. I had to have Jim turn the firehose on them.
Big Jim: [holds up the still wet firehose] And I knocked them m****rs right on they asses, too.
Hey man, Nebraska isn’t Oklahoma. They may have had a few trouble makers from time to time but no car thieves nor has there ever been a single probation put on the program for improprieties. The worst that has ever happened was in the 80’s where Nebraska would put big names on flights with recruits(when all of the major programs did it) or in the early 2000’s when Eric Crouch got in trouble for not paying for a ham sandwich at an awards banquet.
yes Patch had several car dealerships in utah.
Covello is also a familiar name in Tooele County.
If you fenced ‘em, you wouldn’t get that much. Must’ve phonied up some documents and set up a legit fly-by-night dealership south of the Rio Grande.
You might be correct.
They may have used a couple of buses to bring in the drivers to take the cars out to transports.
Driving out 81 cars might have awakened someone.
Thanks.
I haven’t seen any of those big guys in California.
“Also, freeze their bank accounts or at least trace the accounts.”
Ah... they are the owners. They didn’t steal anything. No law says they have to leave their cars on their lot.
So far, there has been no crime committed, so who has a right to “freeze” their bank accounts?
I hope it’s just what someone suggested above. Doing a Galt. They’re quitting. (Unfortunately, it’s probably something much less imaginative and courageous.)
Hank
My friend also confirmed that Rachael and Rick also worked for Patch here in Tooele.

Associated Press - March 11, 2009 2:55 PM ET
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Some of the cars removed from a western Nebraska auto dealership have been found in Utah and Arizona, and arrest warrants have been issued for the dealership’s owner and 2 of his managers.
A total of 81 cars were taken off the Legacy Auto Sales lot in Scottsbluff late Monday. Authorities believe owner Allen Patch and his two associates have left town.
Scotts Bluff County chief deputy attorney John Childress says seven cars were found Wednesday at an auto auction in Utah. Other cars were found in Arizona, but he didn’t know the number.
The vehicles are valued at an estimated $2.5 million.
Childress said Patch, controller Rachel Fait and general manager Rick Covello are wanted on suspicion of theft.
We have quite a few here. Get some smaller cars on there and it looks pretty busy on the truck.
What about cameras at the dealership as well as around town?
I would think they might load the trucks one at a time and send them out one at a time, to space them apart and attract less attention.
These cars would be insured, right?

Hint: Look south of the border, down Mexico way.
Well, with the bus thing, there are people left behind to tell tales. With three crooked people, there are enough people to get the job done if someone wanted to spend all night for about three nights doing it.
