Republican legislative leaders said Wednesday that they are willing to turn down $133 million in federal stimulus money rather than change Missouri's law on jobless benefits.
Unemployed Missourians already are to receive a $25 weekly boost in benefits as a result of the federal stimulus law. That won't be affected.
But Republicans say they don't like a second prong that would require Missouri to expand unemployment benefits to receive additional federal money. They fear businesses would shoulder a higher tax burden to continue the expanded benefits when the federal money runs out.
"This is essentially a federal bribe to change state laws permanently, and the bribe lasts two years or less," said Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder. He was joined at a news conference by House Speaker Ron Richard, R-Joplin, Senate President Pro Tem Charlie Shields, R-St. Joseph, and other Republican lawmakers.

Could this be an ominous shadow drawing on the end of the United States of America? For years the Federal Government has presumed to be the all-powerful force governing our country, but it just could be that the Federal Government only exists at the pleasure of the state governments and the citizens thereof. States declaring sovereignty sounds like an act of secession and revolution. However the federal government can apparently be dissolved and another one formed anew at the discretion of the states. The existing Federal government may not leave willingly like so many European governments that are replaced routinely and it may engage a military effort with our own soldiers or the likes of a Black Water illegal military invasion to retain total control over us.
United States Federal Government laws are often in violation of the Tenth Amendment, which is perturbing, these events. This is predicated on an earlier provision of the Articles of Confederation, which states that, “Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation [now Federation] expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled.”

Is it possible that state legislators know precisely what they are doing? Whether they know it or not, they are putting the people in the proper position to reclaim their country. Do they have the courage to follow through?

On February 5, 2009, I released a column titled New Hampshire Leads Next American Revolution! At the time, only a handful of states had introduced legislative efforts to reclaim state sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth Amendments of the US Constitution.
As of February 17th, when I released It’s Time for American Freedom Fighters to Unite, some twenty states had followed that lead, introducing measures of their own aimed at reclaiming state rights to defend against what was clearly becoming a runaway Democratic Socialist juggernaut in Washington DC, running roughshod over Republican members of congress and the millions of Americans they represent.
Today, the number of states claiming state sovereignty, some outlining specific federal actions that have far more to do with usurping the US Constitution than upholding it, has grown to at least thirty two… the magic number is 34....

State legislators are accusing the Federal Government of flagrantly usurping its authority and bursting its constitutional bounds. This allegation is based upon the 9th and 10th Amendments to the US Constitution. It helps to recall a few facts:
1) The constitution does not come from the Federal Government. It comes from the people of the several states.
2) The Constitution is a set of instructions from the people to the Federal Government. It was established by the thirteen original states as a delegation of certain specific powers to the federal government so that the rights of the people might be protected.
3) Our inalienable rights come from God, not the government or the Constitution. The Government and the Constitution don't bestow rights, they safeguard them

And THAT is exactly what Bambam is trying to do. I don't understand how all the idiot leftists think they won't be victims along with the rest of us. Even the money they've stolen won't last forever.
Well, in 25 words more or less and JMO, but I don't believe they're disposed to thinking at all and refuse to see past the ends of their noses. To make a long story short, the old saw conservatives often use to deride our reality challenged brethren is that "liberalism is a mental disorder". I believe it's more than just an amusing enecdote, it's a fatally accurate description of a large chunk of the population that never makes it past adolescence.
Over at least the last several decades, this self destructive behavior has not only been tolerated, but legitimized and loudly encouraged by so many influences it's hard to even know where to start a list of contributors. I've proposed this many times, but IMHO we're trying to engage forces of pure evil and we're ill equipped for the battle. If we don't ask God to give us the strength, courage AND wisdom to wage this battle, we've already lost.
