Posted today in between computer shut downs. No intro today. I suspect the SS is coming for me for inappropriate (read: conservative) material. :o)

who know me better than you do.

You're right, all I know of you is what you wrote. Let's just say I'm not impressed by the depth of thought.

Thanks for the tip. I’m picking up my Fed ID to purchase firearms from my local PD soon. Any recommendations on a good deer hunting gun? I heard there are caliber restrictions in NJ due to the proximity of housing to hunting areas.

Go online and get the hunting regs for NJ. They will tell you all you need to know about what weapon you can use to hunt deer. Some states only allow shotguns with slugs due to population density in some areas.

Oh, my Lord. Thick as a brick. But then that was the point of your original post, wasn't it?

Obviously I’m living in the wrong place. Out here in the cornfields, we just work to pay our debts. What the heck are we thinking?

The segment you commented on was the only part of Rush that I heard today. It concerned that article by Thomas Sowell...Sowell expresses a gloom in that piece that verges on the tragic. Rush's comments pn the piece were some of the most perceptive I've heard in a while. Times have changed, the electorate has changed, and none of it is in our favor. I see fewer and fewer chances to reverse the general trend of things using traditional methods.

Nothing against hunting, but I'm surprised no one else has commented on that particular segment of Rush's show, nor your own remarks. We are indeed in a bad way. However this all shakes out, America will be a very different place after Obama. Either it will be a quasi-socialist state like Europe, or it will be a country led by reconsitituted conservatism. The old post WW II conservatism that elected Reagan and won the Cold War is dead. Can it be reconstituted in present conditions? I am beginning to think, as you implied, that we're all in for a "dark night of the soul" and that only God can save us now.

The 50 cal Thompson Center Arms percussion cap kit (could use to pick up for $145), a few tools, and some patience makes a fine deer gun on the cheap. The barrels are pretty darn good. The only real pain is sighting one in for 100 yrds.lots of trial....they simply have too much drop after that, but will roll a white tail without a problem.
To me, they are a beautiful rifle.

Thanks, ishmac....I’ve been saying it here on FR since the morning of 11/4/08...and taking a bit of a beating for it. There are many in denial - many who think we’re simply “in a cycle.” I don’t think people understand that what we’re facing is unprecedented. All things have changed - nothing is the same.

Got to say your choice of 30-06 is a general all round choice that with reloads will give you 110gr to 250 grain loads. For Small Deer to Black Bear / Moose size game it’s good general choice.

30-06 is a do it all rig if ya reload for it.

Since you would like a conversation, why don't you explain what your problem is with my post. I posted what I thought, you immediately thought of another quote by Madonna. I am not Madonna, nor have I said anything resembling what that whore would say. Since you made a bad judgement in equating what I said and what she said, I am ready to accept your apology. Now, what I said, and what I mean to say is that many women do not like confrontation, therefore most are interested in silly or stupid topics. Because of that fact, Rush will achieve no progress in getting more women to listen to him. I simply am pointing out the difference between men and women. Now, women who have strong men in their lives, dads, husbands, uncles, whatever, have the best chance of listening to and finding common ground with Rush. So, looking at the makeup of the USA right now, he has little chance of increasing his percentages here. Except, I suppose if a strong woman has daughters and she is able to keep the girls from wanting popular stupid things and feelings, or if he was able to be heard worldwide, there, yes, if he were heard worldwide, he would be able to increase drastically his female listenership.

Can I hear an Amen?
